I will be doing something similar next month. It is better to rent a suv or will a small car do?. What app do you use for navigation? Do you prebook your accommodation or as you go? Thanks!

We rented a 4 door Toyota sedan. It was a little underpowered on the hills, but overall was fine. We didn't feel like we needed an SUV. We used Google maps for navigation and can only think of a couple of times when we are out of cell range. Otherwise Google maps worked well. We tended to book our accommodation a day or two in advance and in early December that seemed ok. The only places we did not book in advance where at Pha Hi and Ban Rak Thai because it just seemed really hard to book online. We just showed up and found a place to stay. Hope you have a great trip. Thanks for watching my video. Pha Hi is a very relaxing place and how long you stay depends on what you are wanting to do. If you are on a tight schedule I think 2 nights would be fine.
