Great video Dave, nothing in fishing beats a net of Roach on the stick, Cheers.

Fantastic Dave.. I agree with you when you said if you could only fish one way for 1 species that would be it! Magic

Great film Dave, love the tricast's and auto bail reels classic river gear.the hybrid you had made me think is there bream in the river in any numbers,as they're never mentioned in Wye vids.🎣🐟

They’re a bit of an enigma in the Wye. An odd big one getting caught here and there. Odd random skimmers and hybrids in amongst the roach, but no shoals to target. I actually hold the Wye Bream match record with 68lb of them caught from very close to where this was filmed, but they were all skimmers about 1lb 4oz and hardly ever showed again.

Yes strange that,but typical river cycles that occur,the Trent was the same in the 80s when it chocca with big pommies ,lasted a few seasons then they disappeared.cheers mate.

You can’t beat a good roach. Diawa should do a modern 1657 autobail.

Another enjoyable and informative video, great for newbies to the Wye like myself, thanks! When you say the river was in perfect condition, what level are you looking at for stick float? Also for a short casual session is bread any good for the roach?
@anglingescapadeswithdavero23637 ай бұрын
A gauge level between 0.80m and 1.3m should be right. After that bulk rig avons or bolos. Bread will catch plenty but generally when it’s clearer.👍

Odd how different rivers fish, on the Hampshire Avon it was maggots on a clear river and bread when coloured, lots still to learn, keep the videos coming, excellent stuff, thanks.

great stuff dave, did you stick with double bronze on the far line? regards mick.
@anglingescapadeswithdavero23637 ай бұрын
Quite often a red and a bronze or double red. Probably makes no odds but often revert to red.

Another great video Dave 👍 just going back to your previous blog where you slowed footage of that cormorant taking that sizeable Perch, do you cull your allowance of cormorants? I once saw an MP saying fisheries were complaining about losing fish stock's through cormorants but didn't use their cull allowance. I know it's nature but these sea birds are slowly decimating our natural waters 😢

Another inspirational video Dave👏 Quick question; do you make up your river running line rigs in advance and store on winders? If so what diameter line would you typically use for different species and would it be the same type as the main line ? Lastly, here’s to a healthy, happy 2024. Cheers JJ
@stephencurtis78367 ай бұрын
Excellent video as always dave what mainline do you use please
@anglingescapadeswithdavero23637 ай бұрын
Thanks Stephen I use DH Angling in diameter 0.16 for this type of fishing 👍
