As a hoops fan, one of the biggest things I always hate having to witness is seeing elite level talents being taken down by injury. The T-Macs, the Penny Hardaways, the Grant Hills, or you can even mention Roy’s former teammate Greg Oden who had all of the intangibles to become one of the next great big men, but simply never had the opportunity to live out a healthy career. But, Brandon Roy was special, man. I keep telling people that dude is hands down one of my favorite players of all-time. He simply had it all, every single weapon you would want in a two guard and more. He even had that dawg mentality to him, never backing down from any challenge, and rose to many occasions in clutch situations to let people know he was about that. When I’m reminded of the name, he’s one of those I genuinely get sad about. I don’t like those questions of “What could’ve been?” But, nothing but respect to B. Roy. An absolute pleasure to watch during his best years in that Portland Trailblazers uniform🙏

@@J-Hue That’s a whole other topic in itself. But, load management is fine as long as the system isn’t abused. Which, is why there’s so much controversy revolving around it right now. Yet, in most cases, injuries like that are inevitable no matter how good you take care of your body. I’m someone who has suffered that very thing and I haven’t athletically been the same since. But, yeah, you hate it regardless of the circumstance

Idk if he surpassed Wade. 2009 was largely just the only season Wade was able to start and end the season healthy so he got to show the player he really was. I think Olympic play hurt his career along with Melo's later on and now Middleton's going through it largely due to his running the Olympics. Not getting full off-season to recover after playing 82 games or more and then getting right back to it is rough on the body.

One of my favorite players ever. B-Roy was the definition of a bucket and three-level scorer and could cook like no other, but he's also the definition of a "What If" story as had he never suffered from major knee injuries he could've been the greatest Blazer of all-time and a champion for sure. At the time Roy was blossoming, I thought to self he’s the closest thing to Michael Jordan since his retirement and that’s simply because MJ and Roy had no fat to their game. They were so fundamentally sound…clean. They didnt need a fancy Kyrie dribble for separation. They could both pull up and shoot over you with explosiveness. They played at their speed. And yes, Jordan was flashy but, only when necessary and to thrill the crowd. He and Roy didn’t depend on it. Tim Duncan same but, he wasn’t explosive. Roy and MJ were explosive and under control and clean. Rare combo.
