@IDiggPattyMayonnaise 2 жыл бұрын
Here's another idea: Get real actors for shows. They only put themselves in every role. Expand the talent range of production. They each have their strengths, but acting isn't their best one. They lose a lot because it's the same five people in everything, and they don't have the same dynamic range of a trained/seasoned actor. AND maybe we'll eventually see an actual actress in one of their video. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽. Diversity doesn't seem like a priority at Corridor. Sorry but that's the truth
@darkyoda1980
@darkyoda1980 2 жыл бұрын
Lol patty they got a brown guy who is part Polynesian. Thats far more diverse then the typical POC. They also have a woman who is also POC. How much diversity you want. All of them to be POC.
@Dargonhuman
@Dargonhuman 2 жыл бұрын
@@IDiggPattyMayonnaise Keep in mind that Corridor Digital is a special effects studio, and a small one at that. Their shows are meant to show off their special effects work to potential clients, not their acting talents. On that note, most of the crew are there to do special effects as that's what they've trained for, so they may not even _want_ to do acting roles in the videos. But you are somewhat correct, the kind of forced diversity isn't a priority at Corridor, producing the highest quality digital effects and hiring people with a passion and talent for the job is their priority. If they happen to be a POC, or part of LGBT (at least one of their crew is trans, btw) then so be it, but they're more interested in people who can and want to do the work rather than filling diversity quota checkboxes.

I love this concept being highlighted at 12:31 I'm a complete and utter novice, but I like to dip my toe in the shallow end of extreme sports like speed skating and parkour. It's rarely talked about, but it really is this strange and awesome feeling to prepare yourself for that instinct-disconnect. Even more fun (to me) is the fact that the world itself shrinks to all your senses as they hone in solely on what your body is trying to accomplish. Man I love that feeling lol
@agentsmith413

Tbh, what Jesee had described doesn't need to happen in parkour. He talks about stunts specifically, where you put yourself in risk of hurt. To answer the question of the flip. It's about clearing. If you just pin drop, even with a hop you could still slip or misjudge and hit the back of your head on the board. If you flip you are pushing up and away from the board or the platform in his case. The flip pushes you out from the board in such a way that there is no possibility of contacting it with any body part. Also one of Dom's biggest bails was one of his recent ones where he misjudged his flip off an overpass and as he came down he hit his head and face. It looked brutal. Or the one where he fell off a parkour course in Japan and almost killed himself. The thing is though that people with good body awareness can recover even the worst bails. The one you showed in this video where you said it was luck, wasn't just luck. Not saying there wasn't a lot of luck but when you are used to how your body moves you learn how to relax, how to shift your weight, how to rotate. There are videos of parkour bails online and had they been not parkour athletes they'd have been severely injured or even died.
@AntonAdelson
@AntonAdelson 2 жыл бұрын
What? I can jump from any board or roof or whatever without flipping and without hitting my head. This makes no sense. Please try to explain. IMHO Jesse is completely right. Source: 10 years of parkour and 3 years coaching others

Not to mention they are the biggest parkour youtube channel and put so much emphasis on the mental aspects of the sport compared to what everyone thinks is just running and jumping. The amount of thought and prep they put into one jump is astonishing to me. I loved that jesse made sure to talk about all that, wish it could have been more in depth but amazing none the less 😀

I used to do gymnastics and i know exactly that feeling of letting go. Now that i'm older my body fights back much harder so I can't do anything cool anymore.

Do an episode w/ Mick Foley looking at extreme wrestling stunts.
@btf_flotsam478
@btf_flotsam478 2 жыл бұрын
I don't know if Mick Foley would be too good, but general wrestling stuff is really interesting with regards to stuntwork. They have to do some of the stuff so often that you even get the long-term side-effects from landing square on your arse (Hulk Hogan lost inches of height from spine compression due to his leg-drop), let alone the relatively rare stuff becoming all-too common.

10:56 the hose on top of the pool is to help the divers spot where the surface of the water is when they're flipping since it's often difficult to spot without, not to soften the water.

The diver flipped because if he pencil dove the whole time, he’d gain more momentum and speed on his way down. He breaks the wind gap from himself and is able to slow himself down to reduce any damages caused if things go wrong.
@baqcasanke
@baqcasanke 2 жыл бұрын
Nah dude. Thats all bs. Lol. Given the acceleration of gravity is 9.8m/s/s and the platform was 170ft high. The difference in speed if he were to pencil dive versus belly flop (no wind resistance vs full wind resistance) would be so minimal at that height. If he jumped from a 5,000ft high plane sure, but not from 170ft. Most skydivers dont even hit terminal velocity until they fall more then 1,000 ft. But go ahead and Keep making shit up :)

Niko comments about our precision as humans. There’s an interesting note about this, humans are primates and even though we haven’t been arboreal for a long time we retain much of the necessary structure and psychology for it. Examples include our binocular vision and fingertip grip strength.

Centrifugal force would be my guess - with some of the speeds they can achieve with their flips and spins, anything that would be secure enough to strap to their heads would be too cumbersome and uncomfortable to be useful during parkour.
