I liked my vocal take when I did it and we all agreed it was a keeper BUT I NEED TO DO IT OVER BECAUSE REASONS. Oh, and I need to do a bunch of other stuff over BECAUSE REASONS". Seemingly it never occurred to this guy that I was doing a bunch of work for, well, free. The concept that because it's UNPAID WORK it's like fifth in line, after PAID WORK, LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK, FOOD & SLEEP... Thanks for the comedy relief, dude.

That last text kind of reminds me of my father. He has a vintage 62 Fender Jazzmaster that he got second hand, but in 1962. He played that thing as a working musician for 40 years. Near the end, the finish was so badly worn the wood was nearly exposed in some spots. Everyone told him to leave it alone, because it is worth a bunch. But, he didn’t care about its value. He wasn’t ever going to sell it. But, he still wanted it to look decent. So, he resprayed it black. I use it now. And, I would really like it to be original colors again. So, since value is no longer associated with it, I do plan on having it stained its original colors again.

This reminds me of a weird contract which was offered to me as a graphic designer that basically went into nothing because of how stupid-ass it was. Basically, a guy who own a Role-Playing forum website wanted a sort of intro video for his forum website. He had an idea and asked me if it was possible. Good initial idea and I knew I could produce it well so I asked references for the characters in the video as they had to be characters made by long-time users of the forum. The stuff he sent me was basically edited design sketches or pure rip-off taken from existing video games, manga and anime with well known franchises. The edits were basically color swapping or adding some details tools/hat/decoration here and there and a few visual FX and filter added onto it. I was like "I can't do it for any of the characters that has design made for an existing IP that has nothing to do with the forum." Out of the bunch of character, only 1 was original, but its visual quality was basically like what you would see out of a 18 years old flash animation with almost no shading nor proportions so making a video of it would be most likely a nightmare. The guy complained that I could just do it even if those are based on existing IPs. I was like "Ok, I'll do it... for 8,000 CAD since I got nothing to work with and I can't ever tell anyone I made it publicly as a business ever." He never replied.

I do photography and last summer I had a client not bother downloading the files from Dropbox once I had finished editing & uploading. And yes, she had the link sent immediately so she could see the results. Months go by and I get a text saying she's going to call the police because the files weren't there anymore (since periodically I have to delete stuff to create room for other clients). That's a surefire way to get someone pissed off at you rather than politely asking for them to be reuploaded. Anyhow, I decided to not make an issue of it and reuploaded. It took her FIVE weeks afterwards to finally download them.

The dip switches on the back (that let you change where in the room they sit without busting your balls trying to refit your room into a dedicated studio space) work seriously well. I kind of want Kali to make some hifi-oriented gear that’s easier to connect via Bluetooth or has some sort of a built in DAC streamer. Because they sound that good. That last one hurt my soul man. I mean I've had a couple modded vintage guitars, and I knew they weren't worth near what they would have been if they had been left alone, but they were also being used frequently, because I'm not into buying a display guitar, they were made to be played. When I sold them off, I didn't charge vintage collection value, I just asked a reasonable price for the models in question. They had been played hard, used frequently, repaired and modded at times. So their value as a vintage guitar was zero.
