Horse Guards is named after the troops who have mounted The King’s Life Guard here since the Restoration of King Charles II in 1660. Every weekday, whatever the season or weather, members of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment ride down from Hyde Park Barracks in Knightsbridge to take over guard duties at 11:00am for the next twenty-four hours. The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment consists of a squadron from each of the two senior Regiments of the British Army: The Life Guards wear red tunics and white plumed helmets, and The Blues and Royals wear blue tunics and red plumed helmets. When The King is in London, the Guard consists of one Officer, one Corporal Major (who carries the Standard), two Non-Commissioned Officers, one Trumpeter and ten Troopers. This is known as a Long Guard. When His Majesty is not resident in London, the Guard is reduced to two Non-Commissioned Officers and ten Troopers. This is known as a Short Guard. Troop Movements On weekdays, The King’s Life Guard leaves Hyde Park Barracks at 10:28am and rides to Horse Guards Parade passing through Hyde Park Corner and along Constitution Hill and The Mall. The ceremony of Changing The King’s Life Guard then takes place on Horse Guards Parade at 11:00am. On weekends, The King’s Life Guard remains in place at Horse Guards Parade, where the duty officer will inspect them at 1100am on Saturdays and 1000am on Sundays. During most of the day the entrance to Horse Guards is guarded by two mounted sentries. After the duty officer has inspected them at 4:00pm, all personnel, mounted and dismounted, will come off duty for the day. When to Watch • Changing of The King’s Life Guard at 11:00am (Monday - Friday) • The Duty Officer's Inspection at 1100 on Saturdays and 1000 on Sundays • Two mounted sentries guard the entrance to Horse Guards on Whitehall from 10:00am until 4:00pm. I loved at the beginning with what seemed to be a little boy who was either totally blind or legally blind who, when it was time to get back into his push chair, the Dad just let him do it all by himself. What a Dad, teaching that little boy at this young age indecency and that he would not always have the help and needed to learn to do things for himself, even at this young age. He needs to know that he is not someone who cannot do anything, that he is a will become an independent person who will be able to take care of himself for practically everything. I love that Dad and that little boy.😊

I love the Dad too.They’re a frequent visitors to the Horse Guards Parade.The boy loves the military so it seems.I dont know if he sees or just by vibration he knows how the guards move,he imitates them,what an intelligent beautiful soul.And the Dad knows how to respect the Guards.He teaches them to his child, and I can see how he love and proud as a daddy.The staffs love them too.

You should have asked the woman who was complaining to the police whether she got permission to take pics of the guard and her horse, it would be the same🤷🏻‍♀️there is no law saying someone isn’t allowed to take your pic when in the public! The guards have their pics taken hundreds of times a day!

At 4pm every day in the courtyard on the Whitehall side of Horse Guards, a short ceremony takes place that brings an end to the sentry duties of the two mounted Household Cavalry in the sentry boxes. The two troopers on horseback, along with six guards on foot, will form a line in the courtyard, where they are inspected by an officer in the regiment who will have ridden down from Knightsbridge Barracks by Hyde Park to do so. Once satisfied, the officer dismisses the troopers, ending the Mounted Guard’s duties for the day. Informally known as the Punishment Parade, the tradition of the 4 o’clock inspection began in 1894. Queen Victoria arrived at Horse Guards, expecting to find the Household Cavalry ready and waiting to escort her back to Buckingham Palace, only to find the guards either asleep, drunk or gambling on the job! Deeply unamused by this, Victoria commanded that for the next 100 years, the guards be inspected every day at 4pm to ensure they were taking their duties seriously (hardly surprising she would wish that, given by 1894, there had been seven attempts on Victoria’s life). The century of punishment technically ended in 1994, but Queen Elizabeth II ordered the Household Cavalry to carry it on indefinitely as a regimental tradition, one that continues to this day. It’s always the same group of people who make fun of the guard.it can be forgiven when it’s children but for the adult father the join in with the children is most inappropriate would they like people to make fun of them. I don’t think so.

Why did she bring her children to a very public place that is full of people taking photos and filming in their Halloween costumes? Even she is wearing an expensive costume. I can only hope she rushed them home immediately and locked all of the doors and tightly closed all of the curtains!

You do not have the right to record a child in order to post on the internet and make money from their images. Have you heard of the “Protected Child” status? Children who are protected for reasons of safety ie in care due to family abuse, family who have had to flee from danger etc etc. Catching someone else’s child briefly in a photo or video for a brief moment cannot be avoided………deliberately videoing children without permission of the parent or guardian and focusing on them is creepy. As for Busters response, he is wrong again.😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

@ he was on the corner and moved back to get a full length view of her kids, in the background was the side gate not the horse box and guard. He’s a spammer and has been spoken to before this by the police. He had already been told not to video another child selling poppies with his mother, she also reported him to the police. He is known for it. If you are making money from content their are lots of rules reference videoing children out and about. Those kids looked straight at him and looked uncomfortable.
