The Chinese tourists out of everyone should have seen the video of what happens when you run up to the horse and get too close. That is why the lines were needed. It was hard to watch the guard just say nothing.

Some people don’t acknowledge the amount of training they do , or the fact that they are in active service and all have overseas service in some warring countries . I think they show a great sense and restraint in how they deal with some of the more ignorent tourists . The horses are also trained protective activities, they are also troopers, check your facts.

After all, security and ushers at concerts, games, museums, most any venue do it all the time to keep order. The question is why do some of the guards not enforce the white line? We all appreciate their active service but that has nothing to do with standing guard. Their behavior only further illustrates many peoples argument that the guards and Horse are really just for pomp and ceremony and really service no useful purpose, not even in protecting either the facilities, or the horses.

I have seen most of these King's Guards videos and they are doing their jobs, but unlike them, this guard was sitting on the horse doing nothing. He will have to wait until the king hears about this. His majesty will not be pleased with his own guard for not telling the tourists to get back or stand clear. So it is not the tourists that will face the consequences. It will be the king's guard that will face the consequences for not doing his job properly. All he did was watch the tourists and not stop them.

I don’t believe that! If any of the guards were disciplined this one would be sent to the gallows for sleeping on the job. He did absolutely nothing to protect his horse from more than a dozen tourists breaking all the rules stepping over the white lines and annoying the horse. He’s just lazy and doesn’t care that all the tourists will be going home with a very poor impression of the British armed forces

Since the box has been painted I've seen no change to the signs, yet no one has thought of telling tourists about the box. Plus the lines inside the gate area are only used for the changing of the guard, so the use changes from inside to outside. Also how many times will a tourist visit Horseguards, once maybe so I don't think they will get used to it.

The British are a very calm placid people. If there are bomb threats or bomb explosions they go about their business quietly quickly and thoroughly restoring order. They maybe shocked and angry but there is no drama. There is no fuss. They protect their people and for that reason all the refugees in boats are pouring into the country. This is a big problem they need to address. On a lighter note have a welcoming committee of Ormond and Arnie to brighten their arrival.

I’ve noticed this particular bearded guard, Sir GQ, is like the models in the GQ magazine. Looks good but does nothing. The problem is not with the guards, the problem is with Guard leadership and commenters who believe these guards have direct orders. I don’t think they do. And let’s be real here, they don’t have any real “guard” duty or any function but to do their rounds and sit in the saddle like they did in the 16 th century. In other words, it’s theatre for the tourists. Everyone knows it. There there because it’s tradition and brings tourists. If they served any real function, they would not close up shop at 4:00 in the afternoon, would they?

According to you: people entered a Danger Zone and should face consequences. What do you suggest? The guard did NOTHING not even a verbal warning therefore the "people assume" that it's OK. Maybe the the armed forces protecting the castle should put APL on the ground, when a tourist steps on it it'll go: KAAAABOOM. Then you can justify consequences.
