I've been a driver for many years, and I can remember when we showed each other common courtesy, and had a sense of brotherhood. The covenant driver clearly didn't know what lane to be in, but rather than back off and let him in, he felt he should cut him off. Everybody feels they're the most important person on the road, the basis of road rage.

Yes, and I would not assume that Rusty wasn't looking around. When I see one of these videos, I am already informed that a problem will present itself. So, if Rusty is looking left for an accommodation, he hasn't had the time to decide whether to brake or simply speed up.
@rusty38315 жыл бұрын
Steve n - Sorry, but I don’t agree with you for the most part. The blue/black truck seemed to do exactly what he was supposed to be doing. Why the Covenant driver decided at the last second to conclude he was in the wrong lane is anybody’s guess, but he should’ve slowed a little bit down and merged behind the cammer’s truck, or should have gone ahead and kept to the right and made corrections later, like taking a detour so to speak. I have seen so, so many cars do exactly the same thing with some even backing up on the highway in order to rectify the missed exit, ramp, and the like. From my observations of big rigs, I don’t think they can switch lanes as easily as a car can.

The Werner was passing. Believe it or not... a big truck can pass in the left lane in most states. 🤔 We do not know if there was traffic in the left lane to know if this driver could have moved over. None of this gives the driver any right of way to do what he wants if he misses his exit mark. That driver was most likely an inexperienced driver who hasn't been driving very long, or the driver was an extremely stressed out driver, and that should not be in a truck on the highway.

The way i see it and the driver in the wrong lane shoulda just backed off or just took the exit abd look for a safe place to turn around and get going in the right direction again instead of trying to force his way into the correct lane. However, the driver in the correct lane should have recognized the driver in duress and atleast tried to assist the other driver and attempted to give him room, even if it meant he had to brake/slow down and get behind him and let the guy merge safely. Yea, you can get pissed and radio rambo the other driver to your hearts content. Atleast you helped avoid an accident and you're still moving to your destinations. Having CDL is also protecting the motoring public, even if it means protecting another CDL driver from himself. That's a professional driver, anything else just makes you a steering wheel holder.

It's the other truck drivers fault not the driver that uploaded the video. This has nothing to do with being courteous. @davids40632 жыл бұрын
@Mary Wagner I have seen some middle lane drivers refusing to change lanes out of courtesy, and if he had a chance to do so, damn him, I don't care who's job it is... it is etiquette for the middle lane to look to merge and make way for the right lane... HOWEVER, Right lane should absolutley recognize that middle lane just ain't gettin over, wether middle lane simply can't move because of a car in the left lane, or is just being an Ass, right lane guy needs to slow down and look for a place to merge behind him. this move should have been made the very minute he realized he was about the get forked out... ALSO, at the point where he crossed two lanes to get into the shoulder was an ABSOLUTE NO NO, at that point he needed to just take the loss of time and live to fight another day. He could have taken out both trucks w that move. So yes, right lane passer is the sinner here. But anybody watching, just know if you are in the middle lane and don't get over for me and I can't find a car for miles, I'm writing down your license plate and truck number.

I dont know if BRC had traffic next to him, keeping him from moving over and letting the Covenant in after his foolish aggressive move. If I see someone foolishly dive into shallow water and injure themselves, Im not going to let them drown because of foolish or even wreckless behavior. If I had room to move over and let him in, I would move over rather than risk that driver making another bad move and hitting me. As I was moving over, I would be on the horn letting him know he is a selfish idiot for driving that way. BRC planned well ahead and was in the correct lane to continue on his best route. Saying that he shouldnt have been using the center lane so far in advance of the split is what got Covenant in trouble. We got a lot of hard nosed unforgiving truckers out there. None of us is perfect. How about we all get along and try being a little less judgmental and let the newbies and dimwits in whenever possible.
@bigrigcook73223 жыл бұрын
Well said sir! B.t.w, i could not move to my left in order to let him in. And though the video is long and one may analyse and critique my actions, it all happened very fast. Either way, his trainer should've told him to keep on 820 and take the 1st exit to come back to 20. This is the trainer's incompetence in my opinion. Thank you for your comment!
@romanlightman49373 жыл бұрын
After watching the vid again, I see that Covenant had a chance to back off and fall in behind BRC. Covenent clearly realized he was taking the wrong route way too late to make a safe adjustment. When Covenant initiated his aggressive selfish foolish merge across a solid white line, there was a maroon vehicle coming up on BRC's left. At that moment BRC had no safe way to merge into the far left lane. Covenant screwed the navigation pooch and should have excepted his mistake. That said, once the maroon vehicle passed on the left, I would have moved over letting Covenant off the shoulder if he hadnt already done so. Always be polite and forgiving first. No need to be a jerk and unforgiving because "you are in the right".
@kittycorner85263 жыл бұрын
I was trained by the Smith System. It's not wrong for the cammer to be in the 2nd lane over if there is a lot of merging on and off in the far right lane, or if you know you need to keep left at the fork ahead. Being a trucker requires us to be responsible, but we don't have to babysit stupid drivers who don't plan far enough ahead resulting in them being in the wrong lane. Covenant was probably speeding cuz he knew he was in the wrong lane. Trying to force the cammer over is absolutely dead wrong. Just cuz you're in a big rig, you don't have the right to bully other drivers who are paying attention to where they need to be. If you disagree, you need to find another line of work.

@19pete175 жыл бұрын
When Covenant first appears onscreen, his blinker isn't even on, so he evidently doesn't know he needs to change lanes till the 2:00 mark on the video when the blinker DOES go on. At that point he should have dropped back and gotten behind the camera truck, if traffic permitted, but he apparently feels the world revolves around him and continues to try to pass. Bad choice. As the road split, it was pretty much too late for Covenant to slow down and get behind him without driving on the what had now become the shoulder. . It was a REALLY poor (and dangerous) choice to use the shoulder as a traffic lane. It is unknown what traffic was behind the camera truck but there was apparently nowhere to go. Apparently, the choice to eat crow (so to speak) take a wrong turn and find your way back on course, was not even on the radar but at that late stage, it was the best thing to do. It is unknown if the camera truck had traffic on his left but he was under no obligation to accommodate Covenant's self imposed crisis. It's not a dance out there. No doubt there were signs well before the split that he didn't pay attention to. Covenant was WAY wrong and his poor choices in his self imposed dilemma. could have spelled disaster. GREEN, stupid and selfish.

He or she is not stupid because trying to make line change before the exit and using light so why don't give a chance ?

Why are you in the middle lane? Shouldn't all semis be in the right lane? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Get the same thing here in the uk,for some strange reason they think its your place to get out of their way,my view is,the covenant truck is trying to join the others road,and tried to do it by out dragging him,and failed,should havejust joined the road by pulling on behind him,instead of trying to be a dickhead

Yes the covenant driver made a mistake and should have been more aware but you could at least got over in left lane let him back on 20. Every driver I don't care who you are made a mistake once in your life. You could have been professional enough to get over to allow covenant get back on.

Ummmm.... excuse me? I've only been driving for 47 years, but... shouldn't the slower traffic keep right????
@crenninger10005 жыл бұрын
or maybe the speeding traffic stay left!!! you have no idea how fast he was running in the center lane. he knew what lane he needed to be in to take the road he needed !!don't blame him just because covenant can't read a sign that clearly shows for at least 2 miles what lanes go where!!! the dumb ass alway's passe's the blame instead of admitting fault!!! grow up .this job isn't for children!!!!!!!

And i thought the "stupid truck driver" was the one filming, driving slow enough in the Center lane to get passed by a Warner and almost a Covenant .
@ianmuir67842 жыл бұрын
You should have slowed down a bit and let the guy in

They are if you read the signs. the driver filming could not move over for that idiot Tell you what videos like this tell me who pays attention to shit and guess what you failed.
@tonyc46946 жыл бұрын
I understand the driver was trying to merge illegally but after the blue truck had room to move over, should he had moved over.. courtesy. If they would have wrecked with each other, it would have affected both.
@tonyc46946 жыл бұрын
How much effort would it have taken for you to moved over? But you been driving in the middle lane the whole time..getting passed from the left and right lane so enough said.
@bigrigcook73226 жыл бұрын
It's easy to blame me for not moving over. But what you can't see in the video is that the white pickup truck that passed was riding next to me the whole time while covenant was to my right. I couldn't move over. Either way, covenant needed to stay on 820 and taken the next exit to come back to 20. Its basic driving knowledge. What her did was wrong and against the law. Thank you
@deanosborn34646 жыл бұрын
RustyNail I agree with. Some people like to make comments without knowing the whole story. It was Covenants responsibility to merge over safely not just try to pass you on the shoulder. Also, it looks to me like trucks were not going to be allowed in the left lane anyways just down the road so if you would've gone in the other lane and a cop was there you risked getting a lane violation ticket
