The Futurama actually looks like a modded Soviet Borisov Futurama-2, refinished and with a different pick guard. Maybe the original horrible Soviet pickups have been swapped for P90s. The body shape, headstock and bridge/trem look identical. I would advise caution when buying early Soviet electric guitars because those did not have truss rods and their necks tend to get warped over time.

Im not the type to recognize celebrities, and i live in the american south so even someone looking like kid rock wouldn;t stand out all that much to me. I don't remember what my first guitar cost, but it was too big for me and uncomfortable to play (no idea what the music store was thinking not telling me to go for something smaller). So when I picked up the guitar again after college, I traded it in for something I could play without my shoulder and arm hurting and my hand not being able to grip the neck very well. It was a better deal for them than me, but I couldn't really play it and I didn't want to try to sell it myself for a better price. I just wanted something I could play right then 😂

Here's my take: If you're considering spending thousands on a guitar (or other instrument) because it's weird, wonky and eccentric: Go for it, have fun! If you're considering spending thousands on a guitar (or other instrument) because of it's history and "How much it's seen", here's my suggestion: Step 1: Don't buy the expensive guitar. Step 2: Go outside. Step 3: Pick up a rock. Any ol' rock. Step 4: Realize that this random rock has existed for, at minumum, tens of thousands of years and has seen way more history than just about any man-made object in existence. Step 5: You just saved thousands. And you now have a pet rock. Profit. ... but seriously, i get nostalgia and collector's value, but things do get rather silly, sometimes.

I'll never forget a Reverb listing for a used Fender Pro Jr, the 15 watt 10" speaker tube combo from the late 2000's that was once Noel Gallagher's. On a good day, a used one is about $350 USD. The asking price was something like $3000! I'm a huge Noel fan, but a generic Mexican made Fender tube combo does not magically increase in value just because it was his home practice amp. Maybe a $500 premium on top of the normal used price because of that novelty, but certainly not boutique amp price, that's for damn sure!
@castleanthrax18332 жыл бұрын
I kind of agree, but the strat owned by Dave Gilmour magically increased to just shy of 4 million, solely because he played it, so maybe an Oasis fan might like it. Or Liam may want to buy it so he can smash it up. Who knows?
@msmoniz2 жыл бұрын
@@castleanthrax1833 I say this as a massive Noel fan, but comparing his playing and home practice amp that as far as I know, that was never recorded on any legendary Oasis(or NGHFB) songs, or toured with, to David Gilmour, his legendary playing and guitar that has recorded many iconic Floyd songs and been played and toured around the world on many a stage, is beyond apples to oranges. Still having said that, I too think $4 million is an insane price to pay for that "mystique"!

My Les Paul is the most expensive guitar I own. Paid just under $6000.00 for it over 15 years ago. It's worth at least double that today I'm this market. But my favorite most customized guitar is my '89 Fender Stratocaster. Has two invaders with a Mightymite Motherbucker in-between them. Wired with a Killswitch similar to Tom Morello's guitars. Routed for a Floyd Rose tremolo with green noiseless springs with a solid brass block. I'm wiring green LED lights into the fretboard for the dot inlays. The parts alone cost 5 X's the price of the guitar brand new... But it was my first electric. I'll never get rid of it! Had it since I was 6 years old! I'm now 33.

It's important to remember that when the historical guitars (those super rare or owned by legend players) get sold, it's best that they go to people with the means to preserve them. It's kind of like, would you like some priceless art pieces hung in an art museum or would you like Bob from down the street to put it in his basement next to the sump pump? Jim Irsay, for example, is a big rock n roll guy, plenty of money, and takes the preservation of music history very seriously. I trust him to maintain that guitar.

They should come up with a rock group,,,, with Ronald mc Donald as front man,,, the hamburgler play lead and rhythm guitar,,, mayor mc cheese on bass and grimes on drums ,,, but have them make up serious songs and music and give them a cool stage act! I’d pay to see something like that!

Why not? You ever see Kiss,,, or bucket head! Alice cooper,,, twisted sister,,,it’s time for a new one-- system of the clown!🤣Hungry clown posse! They could throw cheese burgers and condiment packets into audience! If any body has the chicken mc nugget’s to carry this out !,,, don’t forget where you got the idea from! Gotta go now for some reason I got a hankerin for a cheeseburger 🍔🎸😂!

My local guitar store, they have an exceedingly early Gibson Les Paul played by the guy and they are selling it for 26k dollars because it needs such massive work to restore it. Some guy walked in and paid like 75k for it because it was going up for auction and all proceeds were to be donated to the local school, and they didn't expect it to go for more than 50k. I'd say a good investment considering they nabbed it for 10k.

I paid a forbidden price for a guitar...it's a custom Moser 10 (same thing as a BC Rich Bich) made by Neal Moser who designed the guitar while contracted with BC Rich in the 70s. Fun fact, he has done various guitar work for many famous people, including Jimi Hendrix, Lita Ford, Slash and even David Koresh.

The Joker guitar was actually made for J. J. Cale. Also known as John Cale to people personally. Not the Welsh John Cale OBE from Velvet Underground, as mentioned in the video. If you look at photos of J. J.’s guitars, you can clearly see this is his control setup, and was specifically made for his needs. Edit: Also, the craftsmanship on that guitar is insane. The swappable pickups were ahead of it’s time.

10:58 thats not the most expensive guitar ever sold anymore. Kurt Cobain's Gibson he played on MTV Unplugged beat that record! It sold for 6mil

The fact that sold for more than like 7 thousand dollars at most is stupid

@samuraiguitarists 11:07 check your facts before you state them because David's guitar was the most expensive guitar but now Kurt Cobain martin d18e used on mtv unplugged in New York is now the most expensive at $6.01 million and I like how Google say David's guitar is the most expensive guitar still they need to fix that

The Joker.THE Guitar! is still available. And still predicted to sell soon. Also I am sure whoever bought the steel lap guitar on Ebay was prob in the UK (Price shows as British Pounds) And thus did not pay stupid amounts for shipping.
