Fellow guitarstore employee here; Shredding to us has zero effect, not only do we see ONLY guitarplayers every day all day, most of us probably can shred your face off! The best customers are those that are excited about a sound or piece of music, those make the store a great place to be
@RJiwatram2 жыл бұрын
Ages ago I was at Guitar Centre looking to buy a fuzz pedal and was trying out the standard favourites, big muff etc, and comparing that to the Swollen Pickle (which I eventually bought). The thing about the Swollen Pickle is you can dial in pretty much any fuzz tone you want - which I didn’t expect - and the guitar store clerk was kind enough to let me try these different tones out. I came across a tone that sounded so good had a few guitar store clerks walk up to listen and some saying it sounded amazing. To which I immediately would ask about what they thought about the different fuzz peddles and their recommendations. I always find I learn so much that way from these guitar store clerks because they love playing the guitar too.

Hi there! Apparently I'm the science side of youtube today, so. My best guess on the reason water does that is because the water turns an essentially one dimensional sound wave into a three dimensional one. That means you get the direct input and a massive doppler effect of inputs from when the sound wave reaches the glass of the cup and is redirected back towards the other alligator clip, making that weird almost a delay pedal sound. Makes me wonder what it would sound like with a square glass.

For anyone actually curious about running guitar signal through water: check out the Rainger Fx MiniBar. It has a built in signal diverter, and allows you to use different liquids to experiment with conductivity and capacitance. In this particular instance, the liquids cause more capacitance and overdrive the signal. This of course depends on what part of the circuitry is being affected by the diverted signal, but with that pedal, the distortion level is dictated by the conductivity of the liquid and how much light penetrates the medium. My terminology may not be 100%, but the note conductive the liquid, the cleaner the drive. Something like toothpaste gives you a massive gated fuzz, where water sounds like a tube screamer sorta.
