He isn’t one of these industry plants like you hear in country music today. You can hear him talk about stuff like that in his song, “Life Ain’t Fair and The World Is Mean”. On the radio, you hear all this pop country horseshit. Not to mention, his Metamodern Sound and Country Music album talks about drugs, life not being the greatest, and past hardships. Not many stations want that type. This nice blues/rock and roll type country just isn’t wanted by mainstream music industries. His music sort of reminds me of Johnny Cash. Sturgill is really the only country singer I’ll listen to that still surprises me with his style.
