Contrary to the date stated on the image files, the photos were taken in June 1972 (Not that it really makes much difference!)

I was stationed in Stuttgart about 10 years later and many of the trams were still running, but construction to replace them with the heavier gage and tunnel underground was going on in earnest. Stationed out in Möhringen at Kelley Barracks, we would walk to Landhaus and ride U3 into the Möhringen station and catch the ride downtown going over Degerloch. The U6 tram went right down the middle of Neu Weinsteige and gave a very nice panoramic view of the "kettle" (Downtown). That view went away when they put the lines in a tunnel.

I lived in Stuttgart in the early '70s. Thanks for this exciting trip down Memory Lane! I recall most of the places you photographed.

wow, so many memories appear when I see these beautiful pictures. I went every day with the line 15 to my school. The good old "Tramse" or "shakey train" ^^, because it tumbled heavily over the rails. To sit at the back on the window sill was fun :D

„Vergiß nicht Deinen Hugendubel“ mal sehen wer’s versteht. Ach ja und Wolle Kriwanek, sehr schade daß er schon nicht mehr lebt. War Lehrer bei uns gegenüber.

An the Werbung von Hugendubel kann ich mich gut erinnern, der Schaffner, der aud der Straßenbahn heraus den Schirm (den Hugeldubel) reicht. Wunderbar! Bin '72 in Stuttgart in die Lehre gegangen. Eine tolle Zeit!

This video goes to show that trams are really the sustainable solution to urban mobility. They have large space inside, they are smooth during acceleration, they last a VERY long time (consider that GT4 trams were built in early 60s and they are still used after 60 years). Tell me what bus from the 60s can be used today...

I was a Canadian university student in 1972 and I was studying linguistics, including German. The German government found me a summer job and I worked at the Hauptwerkstatt that summer. Boring work, but I learned lots of German!

I am not sure as I don't speak German. If I do, it will appear in part 2 which I hope to get around to be before I expire.

Hello, I would actually be interested in all the photos that were taken of line 21 in the Obere Ziegelei area. My question would be whether you could possibly make these photos available to me? Of course, you can also do so for an amount of money of your choice. The photos can be found in Part 1 and Part 2. I would be very happy about an answer. Thank you!

I would also love the photos of line 21 at Wilhelmsplatz in Bad Cannstatt.
