As a non-religious person, who doesn't have a preconceived notion of hanging someone on a cross being bad because it insults a God I believe in, hanging someone on the cross is not bad at all. If your religious I can see why you would be offended by it, but to a non-religious person that doesn't even crack the top 50 bad things they've done. Obviously if you actually believe that there is this all-knowing God in the sky controlling everything and you think that he sacrificed himself to himself on the cross to serve as a loophole for the rules that he's in charge of then of course you're going to be offended. But wrestling and TV shows offend people everyday and no one bats an eye so don't get all bummed out when you're the one whose turn it is to be offended. The cross thing was awesome.

Long Rant. Here is how I remember it. Russo was a sponsor on Arezzi's radio show. Basically he's Arezzi's money mark. Arezzi's radio show was a major thorn in Vince's side. It was a major catalyst in advancing the steroid and "ring boy" scandals. WWF basically "worked" Russo by inviting him to a seminar or conference about steroids. They treated him like media and wanted Russo to feel important. Clearly they were trying to recruit Russo to cut off Arezzi's funding. Arezzi was brokered programming. Linda McMahon is the one who hired Russo. Not Vince McMahon. Silencing Arezzi was priority. But I think something else is at play. A young Vince Russo is tall, dark and handsome. It's in a woman't DNA to respond positively to men like this. I'm not saying she was romantically interested in Russo. But the combination of his looks and cutting off Arezzi's funding was more than enough motivation to give Russo a menial job. Russo continued to run his own radio show on Long Island. He made a fool of himself. I don't know who paid for it, but when WWF ran Nassau Coliseum, Russo did a live remote there and WWF wrestlers were guests, which was unheard of in that era. Timing is everything. Vince was desperate to fight WCW and tried some Russo ideas. Russo bankrolled Arezzi and WWF wanted to cut off his funding and that's what got the ball rolling. Right place, right time.

Vince Russo: "I wasn't writing for kids." Also Vince Russo, in the same book: "I would ask kids what they thought was cool and what appealed to them."
@MJAce85 Жыл бұрын
He was 100% writing for kids. There's a certain age group that mainstream wrestling never really got to. Adults will always appreciate the showmanship and skill, and then kids will love the Hogan, ultimate warrior, undertaker type characters. But no one ever seemed to worry much about the in-between. And in my opinion I think that's why the Attitude era hit so big. It encompassed all "three" groups. It wasn't so adult as to be boring to kids, or go over their heads, and wasn't so childish that grownups felt like they were at chuck e cheese. You had boobs, then luchadores, then vampires, then porn stars, then double entendres, tough guys, giants and giant -killers, there was a box or two being checked off every single match

This report just in from backstage at Smackdown where Bruce looks beaten and disheveled. Vince: What's the matter, pal. Bruce: Some things you just can't explain. Vince: You mean like the finish to this year's hell in a cell match? HA HA! What a stinker that was. Bruce: Some things you just can't explain. Vince: Why don't you tell me about it, pal. Bruce: Well, I've been trying my hand at amateur farming lately. Vince: That's hard work, pal. Bruce: Well. We recently got a cow, so we can get our milk. This morning, my wife sent me out to barn to get a some milk. Vince: and? Bruce: Some things you just can't explain. Vince: Go on. Bruce: I sat down behind the cow and started filling the bucket with milk. "My bacon's got me wrapped around it's little finger. I use a little syrup just to make it taste sweeter. I can't wait to be alone with my piggies to-ni-hyeet." I got it halfway full when the cow kicked the bucket and knocked it over spilling the milk. So I took a piece of rope and tied it's leg to a post. Vince: Maybe it was your singing? You want an icopro bar? Why does everybody make that face when I offer them one? Bruce: Some things you just can't explain. Vince: Keep going, pal. Bruce: I put the bucket back under the cow and started milking it again. I got halfway done again when it kicked the bucket over with it's other leg. So I took another piece of rope and tied it's other leg to another post. Vince: SMELL THE MAGIC!!! Uh oh. That last one's running down the back of my leg. Good thing this is a dark suit. Bruce: Some things you just can't explain. Vince: Then what? Bruce: I put the bucket back under the cow and started filling the bucket again. I got halfway done and I'll be damned if that cow didn't knock the bucket over with it's tail. Vince: Do any of those teats produce...chocolate milk? Mmm, chocolate teaties. Bruce: Some things you just can't explain. Vince: Go on. Bruce: Well, I was out of rope, so I took off my belt and tied one end of it to the cow's tail and stood up to tie the other end to a rafter over my head. When I stood up, my pants fell down around my ankles and at that exact moment my wife walked in to see what was taking me so long. What? It's better than anything Vince Russo ever did.

@Hallo_2152 жыл бұрын
Many of his ideas (when tweaked) worked wonders in the company. He surely was an integral player at the time, but he also had immense flaws. These flaws were suppressed (to an extent) via constant filtering and tweaking by McMahon and the company. Eventually you would see these flaws on television in the form of dumb ideas like the Brawl For All. He had absolutely no knowledge of wrestling psychology or how builds/matches should be booked. McMahon CLEARLY knew of this, I dunno of anyone who says Russo “fooled” McMahon. Russo was an integral part, but ONLY because McMahon went with his good ideas and completely buried his crazy bad ones.

Russo takes a job he’s wanted for so long, then starts complaining about the fact that he’s not getting the credit he deserves, his name isn’t in lights, he’s gotta work all kinds of crazy hours...he reminds me of some folks I ran into while I was in the military: You join the service, then complain about the fact that you may be getting sent on deployment somewhere.

Jim Cornette claims the Monteal screwjob was his idea on accident. He said he just threw that idea out as a half ass joke , but McMahon liked it.

A lot of mistakes on this podcast, just look at the video still picture, Fat Conrad wrote Russo as "Rusoo" and at 58:25 he says "Why Bret Why" when it is actually "Why Vince Why" and like I said there were a lot of mistakes here but these idiots call themselves experts and professionals. LOL!!!

It's actually spelled "Shitstain" and the why Vince why thing is so minor it doesn't even matter. What else was wrong Mr Shitstain?

It's Venís, not Venus, and that guy was over. So, yeah, it's a successful Russo creation, one of many.

Why did they remake this Russo episode? This is not a repost of the original, I just listened to it. They went over the same points and Pritchard is making out like he hasn’t heard this stuff before.. very weird.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Was actually checking the comments to see if anyone else had mentioned it or if I had just dreamt it all.

This is the audio from an episode they did for WWE Network last year. Apparently Bruce and Conrad couldn't do a new episode this week due to their busy schedules.
