As a kid André scared the fuck out of me when after he had the run in with Duggan and he wakes up after getting hit with the 2x4 as Bruce said there were about 8-10 suits and several referees in the ring to revive/help André out but he goes berserk and starts battering everyone in sight including crashing suits heads together and startling on a paramedics head as he’s trying to fleee the ring. I was 10/11 at the time and just was scared AF of that angry Giant

One of my favourite Andre stories came from Emile Dupree (Rene's dad) who was promoter for the Atlantic Grand Prix territory. He said he once paid $10,000 to have Andre in for a week. He said he made more money that week with Andre then the rest of the season put together. Even though AGPW was only a summer territory it really says what kind of draw Andre was.

Andre had too much respect for Vince that there was never any doubt if McMahon said Hulks going over then Hulk was going over in Mania 3. Now I’m sure unlike most of the talent Vince was very polite and delicate with the Boss but I can’t think there was ever any doubt André was gonna do the job. The best thing I love about the André stories is how if he got angry and started shooting on a opponent it was lights out. NO one could ever actually beat the Giant. He let you beat him when the storyline called for it which was very rare.

A great episode. Thank you both. Long awaited and long over due for sure. You did a long show, and did not dissapoint. But damn you could easily do 2 more hours. As a long standing Andre-mark, I must provide more info that Conrad did not mention but I feel is important to the Legacy of Andre to bring up. How about if you in a future episode discuss: -Andre's pinfall and submission losses to Inoki and El Canek in 1986 -Harley Race suplexing andre -Andre continuing to wrestle after WM6 for WWF. He wrestled in Hawaii teaming with Baba against Demolition and teamed with the Rockers in early 1991 in Ireland against Orient Express (Andre's last match in WWF) -Andre continuing to wrestle in Japan and Mexico after WM6, having his very last match on December 4, 1992. -When Andre broke his leg against Killer Khan -More in-depth discuss Andres feuds with Savage in 1988, Duggan in 1988, Roberts in 1989, and Studd also in 1989. -You also got things mixed up about Summerslam'89. Andre was not left off the card. He teamed with the Twin Towers against Demolition and King Duggan. Fun fact, Demolition Smash bodyslammed both Big Bossman and Akeem, back-to-back during a comeback but Andre never allowed him to be slammed. -Andre's matches with Piper and Flair. -Andre also got the only known clean pinfall of the Ultimate Warrior. It happened in Milan, Italy in April 1988. -Rick Rude's opinion on Andre sicne they teamed a bit in 1989 There is way more to discuss. Well, with that said, it was not meant to complain, I am just curious and a huge Andre mark. You two did a tremendous job. It is also funny how Bruce claim Andre was 7'4, when even McMahon himself claimed Andre was "only" around 7'. Guess Bruce is still kayfabing ;) Merry Christmas from Sweden

Nobody really talks about how, in reality, Andre really drank and ate himself to death. There are a lot of people with Acromegaly who live into their 70s, without pituitary surgery. In fact, the life expectancy is only 10 years less than the average human. I remember him walking by me in front of MLG and he couldn't have been over 6'8, but disgustingly overweight. (During his run with Warrior) If you're drinking 50 beers a night, and eating 6 steaks, I don't care how big you are, that's going to kill you faster than Acromegaly. There just seems to have to be this mystical myth that he was inevitably destined for death in his 40s.
