The ending doesn’t really affect me because I wasn’t a fan in 2001, so I don’t really KNOW how I would’ve felt had I been watching then. Austin / rock is the best match I’ve ever seen and the finish was excellent. It took 17 chair shots from Austin to finally be able to pin the rock for the title. Shaking Vince’s hand at the end meant nothing cus he could’ve decided to give him the stunner the next night on raw and nobody would’ve even thought of it.

Conrad had a fair opinion on Rock vs Austin II. It was a great show from top to bottom. This wrestlemania is in my top 5. It goes 3, 17, 10, 6, and 2. What was insane is that those men that bitched about not being on mania ended up being on heat. X-Factor defeated Grand Master Sexay and Steve Blackman on Heat. I wished they would have turned Steve before mania and have him be that desperate to sell his soul to Mr. McMahon. They should have done a segment where Steve went to Vince and beg for a no disqualifcation match cause he knows he cant beat The Rock. Also, Dave was so full of shit about Chyna vs Ivory. It was designed to be a 1 sided squash. Chyna nearly had her career ended thanks to Ivory. She came back and become the WWF Women's Champion. Angle vs Benoit best non-title match to be at mania. This told a great story from top to bottom. This card was that damn good it makes sense why this card broke a million buys.

I don't know how many people here are aware of the old sci-fi/horror soap opera, Dark Shadows, but I think that show has a lot in common with X-7 and what resulted. Dark Shadows was a red-hot show in the late 60's, thanks to a vampire anti-hero character named Barnabas Collins. He was always one step ahead of the villains on the show and always triumphed in the stories on the show. The audience loved the character. He was the ultimate hero. Then they did a storyline where he came under the spell of some bad villain characters called the Leviathins and now his character was under their control and he was just a straight up villain and dumb. This storyline was the beginning of the end of the show, because audiences didn't like this portrayal of the Barnabas character. Ratings dropped big time and the show never recovered. This storyline took place in the spring/summer of 1970. By April of 1971, the show had been canceled. I see that very similar to Austin turning heel here at Wrestlemania X-Seven. The WWE was at it's peak, the crowd still loved Austin no matter what, and wrestling fans just didn't want him to be a heel. They didn't want to boo him and cheer for others. They weren't sick of him yet. WWE does the heel turn and tries to make him the villains against other babyfaces, and ratings start to plummet, and WWE has never been red hot in the ratings or mainstream pop culture since. There's a lot of other factors too. WCW and ECW going out of business. The Rock basically leaving the wrestling business full time soon after. Maybe the brand split. WWE moving away from USA to TNN which instantly cut like a 1/3 of their audience because TNN at the time was a much smaller network. The Invasion storyline which was just very disappointing because the big stars from WCW didn't come and weren't part of it as well as the WCW guys being pushed as non-threats, etc. But I think the biggest factor was Austin's heel turn. People just weren't sick of him yet and didn't want to boo him. And I think that turned audiences off. Austin and McMahon shaking hands really did symbolize the end of the Attitude Era, and WWE has never been the same since. Or wrestling for that matter.

I'll never accept the excuse that all the big WCW stars weren't brought in because it would've cost too much to buy out their contracts. You're telling me, Vince McMahon didn't have the money to bring in Hogan/Hall/Nash/Goldberg/Sting etc to book the hottest, most star studded, most profitable angle in wrestling history, sure it would've cost a lot but immediately would've have seen a return on your investment in ticket sales, merchandise (t-shirts, action figures, VHS and DVD's), PPV sales and in the long run would've easily made a profit. I'd bet the XFL, WWF New York and WWE Studios all cost as much if not more to kick start and would've been a lot harder to turn a profit out of those business ventures, 3 businesses (Pro football, Club/restaurant and movies) that WWF had no experience in running and ultimately failed but the hottest wrestling angle in the history of the business falls at your feet and it's too expensive to invest in, especially considering it cost so little to buy WCW out in the end. It just doesn't make sense. If I had to bet, I'd guess that Vince's ego saw WCW stars as nothing compared to his WWF stars and that was compounded by every wrestler, agent and whoever else had a job being in his ear turning him off the idea so they didn't have a threat to their own job and position in the company

Everything went downhill after 2001. Wrestling tanked, America got stuck in the Middle East, the rise of the internet and (anti)social media, our over dependence on cell phones and tech...Although we are more connected through technology, as a society it seems like we are more divided now than ever. 9/11 was the tipping point.

Doink The Clown got one of the best reactions from the crowd and they boo'd Kamala out of the building when he eliminated Doink. Sgt Slaughter also got a great reaction and he got another pop from the crowd when he eliminated Kamala. The dirt sheet writers are complete tools.

The GOAT of all time Wrestlemania. It was all downhill after this show though. Within a year most of the audience disappeared. Had Austin not been forced into retirement and Rocky not sold out for Hollywood, who knows how far the WWF could have risen. Shame what's happened to the show. Catering to kids and pushing a softer in-ring product in the face of MMA was not the answer. There's a reason most 18-35 year olds tuned out of wrestling. Triple H booking himself to beat everybody & wrestling the same boring match year after year at Wrestlmania doesn't help either.

Today, 8/5/2019, i was scrolling through KZbin and i stumbled up on THIS video. HOW THE FUCK DID I MISS THIS AND NOT KNOW THEY FINALLY TALKED ABOUT X-SEVEN??? This video was posted on March 29th 2019, how did i miss this??? Either way i'm about to listen to this episode right now. By the way, WM X-SEVEN is the greatest PPV of all-time. I watched it live, lived in Houston, had a friend from school who went and we talked about X-Seven all day at school with hoarse voices the following day.

I was third row ringside at X7, and Bruce is 100% right...nothing was going to make that crowd boo Austin. Nothing. On the way out after the show I made the comment to my friend that, if they wanted to turn Austin, they chose the wrong venue. Austin could have pulled a gun and started shooting random people in the crowd and they'd have kept cheering him.
