I only recently started actively researching my adhd, And Ive realized that I stopped using a lot of tools because people didn’t like them. I used to wear cat ears and fingerless gloves constantly alongside (motorcycle) riding boots. I now realize that I liked the ears because they helped me express myself and kept pressure on my head. For fingerless gloves, they kept my hands warm since I have bad circulation and they just felt nice. The riding boots were just really nice and fit with almost any outfit, so I didn’t have to think too much about what shoes I was gonna wear. I’ve started wearing boots and fingerless gloves again and I love them so much. Now that I crochet, I can make myself pretty much any color and add as many or as few details as I want. I probably won’t ever go back to cat ears, but I have been experimenting with bandanas a litte because they give the same feeling.

lol this is kind of a tangent but I too have ADHD and this was funny for me to read because I have had a mad crochet addiction for about 6 weeks now... I had to get my husband to hide the crochet hook I'm using right now because I'm suffering wrist pain and I know if I keep working through the pain I could get permanent injuries. But having ADHD I don't trust myself to have that self-control to stop on my own. I've definitely felt out of my place my entire life but was only diagnosed as an adult. It's nice to know that my "quirks" are okay and don't mean I'm a bad person or something. And I've embraced expressing myself like I always truly wanted too. Fitting in really isn't that fun!

When I was in middle school, I had this gorgeous, navy blue with snowflakes fleece poncho that my mom MADE for me. It was so comfy and warm, I loved it. And then another kid said "Why can't you just wear a normal sweatshirt like everyone else?" And I got so self-conscious I don't know if I ever wore it again.
