My problem too but I will never be persuaded to wear trousers as a “crop length”. It just makes tall ladies look untidy and that we have outgrown our clothes. Next is good and I also learnt to sew at a very young age in order to make my own at the right length. Some lovely ideas here.

Hmmm Not particularly good clothing choices for a tall older woman like me. Those trousers that look too short - just no. I don't wear heels as I don't like being over 6', plus they are also uncomfortable and I have size 9 feet which cuts down on shoe choices. I often end up buying Men's clothing for arm, body and leg length which doesn't help in feeling feminine at all!

Agree. I'm 5'9" but with a 36" inseam. It is not easy but you can find appropriate full length choices. Crop is an absolute no as it simply looks like you are not properly fitted. The red suit was lovely on the host but on the taller frame the too short pants, too short jacket and short arm length stood out.

Thank you for styling a woman of my height; it's important to be inclusive of body shapes and heights. It's a misnomer that tall women can slip anything on, and it'll look good. Your styling tips were very helpful. Please consider seasonal styling for tall women too. It helps to see someone who has the same type of styling concerns. It'd be cool if you could bring Leone or another tall woman back for seasonal styling.

As a 185 cm (6'1) tall woman I can easily say it's a real struggle to find long enough sleeves and trousers. I often go to the male side to buy pants as they can get the long legs without the behind of an elephant (according to the fashion industry women don't get taller than 170 cm, after that height we only get wider).

I'm at the other end of the scale, 4ft 11 and three quarters. I find most petite ranges, when you can find one, think we're thinner if we're short, ie a size 12 becomes size 11. Such a pain. I so envy anyone who can buy straight off the peg and get a good fit. Thankfully Melissa is teaching me loads 👍

Same. Most women's trousers have a big hip allowance built in, which I don't need . Body and sleeves on knitwear, shirts or blouses are way too short

Finally! Yay! Styling for the tall gal! I’m 6 ft tall, 60 years old, and rectangle. Sleeve length and seams/detail that NEVER hit at the waist are my biggest issues. Oh, and there’s a bit of pooch ( I blame my 4 children). The thing that takes the longest when getting dressed? Tucking in the top-full tuck, 1/2 tuck? LOL.

Helpful! My daughter graduates uni in June and has landed a great job where she can't just wear jeans every day. Finding clothes for her is a nightmare. She's "only" 5'10", long legs/arms, short torso, UK size 4. Everyone who thinks having a model's body would be great has never actually tried to dress that body.

ASOS Tall and Next are good places to start. Ignore the trendy stuff and look for some basic trousers in neutrals that suit her, say black, grey or stone. Tops are generally easier but study the videos (ASOS) to make sure the sleeves etc are long enough. If the clothes don't look good on a 17-year old model, they won't look good in real life! Pay attention to measurements. I have measured my ideal rise, body length, arm length, etc. Take a measuring tape shopping. And look for nice fabrics, cotton over polyester as much as possible. How about some smart long- sleeved dresses and skirts? Cardis are brilliant for work and cooler work places. You can't go around wearing a jacket but a cardigan keeps you cosy. And SCARVES are amazing for introducing colour, fun and warmth. If shoes are an issue, try Cinderella Shoes online (Ireland). Brilliant service from Bernie and co!

I like all the outfits especially the burgundy dress, but the first grey trousers didn't seem to sit right at the front and from the darts. It's a problem I often encounter, though I'm only 5'8" but the rise on jeans and trousers for a taller woman needs to be right too.

It was so helpful for me 5'10". When the weights went wild, I didn't have to wear functional dress, Now almost 20 kgS loss and the utility of a dress intensifies to the peak point, (i.e carry your power bank, meds, 🕶️) thus dress/blazer with many pockets is the most preferable things I want

From an engineering point of view, jeans and trousers are very difficult to cut right - the fabric, rise, inseam, zip, pockets, etc. are all important. I like flat fronted pants if possible. Tucks on a lady with a bit of a belly don't look great, especially on jeans. I'm not keen on the crotch area being so visible unless someone has a really slim tummy. It's actually way easier to find a skirt or dress to fit, but be careful of where the waist, darts, etc. hit. Leone was a super model and great fun. Most looks were great on her, especially the burgundy dress. Not the too-short trousers though!

I’m only 5 Ft 8 but short waisted so legs are the most of my height challenges come from. I can totally count out any joggers as they end up looking like capris on me. Thanks for showing a taller women. In the US Old Navy sells lots of tall options for a reasonable price. The body con burgundy dress looked Fab!

I am 5’9” and a lean hourglass as well. Same body really! I often wear men’s slim pants and jeans because they fit my lack of thighs and are long enough. Mens shirts are great too. The trick is to add feminine details. But I am trying cropped or ankle pants just for fun.

Yay, it’s my case today ! .I loved the dress and the trouser suit - these are what I tend to wear most of the time . I usually don’t like to tuck a jumper in, but it is definitely worth trying .My favourite outfit of today‘a video is the one with the long beige cardigan .I’d avoid the double breasted coats and jackets though.

I've been tall since grade school. It was very difficult to find clothes before the internet but it's not hard at all anymore now that tall clothes are easily searched online. There are plenty of good brands that offer tall sizes for workwear. JCrew, Madewell, Anthropologie, Asos, Boden, Djerf Avenue, Gap, Good American, Banana Republic, TopShop, and tons more. I haven't had a too short arm length or short waist or too short pants in at least 20 years!

Lovely lady and lovely clothing she modeled! In South Africa we find it is also a bit difficult to get longer length pants. Also difficult to find suits (for winter) like your friend modeled. I’m just 2 minutes in and I’m so glad I’ve come across this video. I’m 5’11 and fluctuate between a UK 16/18 with an hour glass shape-it is quite the struggle to get things that fit properly as most plus sizes won’t do tall and most tall ranges may not go up to 18 🤦🏾‍♀️

As a tall woman of similar height and shape to your model I was pleased to find this video in your back catalogue Melissa. I agree with all the comments from other tall ladies, however I’m personally embracing the cropped trouser look it’s just a matter of getting the footwear right. FYI Marks and Spencer have a (limited) range of extra long trousers which come up really long - I’m a 35-36” inside leg and have had to have some taken up! Would you consider doing a video with more focus on dresses and occasion wear as these can be a minefield for tall women - I sometimes feel like a ‘ship in full sail’ 🤣🤣

I’m tall and one of the problems I find is that my size Is larger because of my height but I don’t have the body shape that would match the size. I look very slim but I am a 14 so a lot of the sizing accommodates a fuller figure rather than the shape of a thinner person. I’m like a size 10 shape scaled up so the clothes never fit right. In the US, Banana Republic has great tall options. They even have tall shirts. There regular length is offer a 33 or 34 inch inseam. I am 5’11” and buy most my work stuff there.

I loved this !!! I’m spend so much time searching online for stylists or fashion bloggers for taller women. Far and few between. I’m 5’9 on the thin side “tallish”and struggle with finding fashion. Tall fashion is for over 5”11 and fuller.. please please continue to think of us 🙏

I’m 62 and have been shopping for clothing for over 40 years. In the past, quality trousers used to have a couple of inches of hem that could be let out if needed. Nowadays the hems and other finishing on even the higher priced garments is sadly lacking.

This was the video I was waiting for. Firstly Melissa, CONGRATS on over 1,000,000 views - you are flying it with new subscribers too. Being tall isn't just about leg length; arm length is a big issue and usually shoe size too. Cinderella Shoes in Ireland do a really big selection from cheap to expensive and ship around the world. Chiltern Street was my favourite street in London (near Baker St) for tall clothes (LTS at the time) and shoes (Crispin Shoes, Magnus, etc.).It's not just about making pants longer; they have to be cut right. I actually hate cropped flares as they generally look like they are cut about 4 inches too short for tall ladies. But wide leg flares look fab done right.

Thanks to your series I finally know my body shape. I am an hourglass with a figure very similar to your model except that I am 5’4”. I am a US size 4 but I am on the busty side. I don’t like to wear fitted clothes so when I dress I sometimes look like more of an apple shape. This tends to make me look much bigger than I am. I am happy to have found this series. Love this! I’ve been waiting for it. Some really great pieces and Leonie looks fabulous in them. I love the black boots. It may be a great alternative as I’ve been lusting after a pair from By far ( Sophie ) but am balking at £400 as I’m clumsy and will ruin them. Leone was tons of fun. I'm short but it was fun to actually see some of the challenges tall people face as it's easy to feel jealous. I have long legs but I often say I was meant to be 5'10", someone just squished my top half down to a 5'4" frame. Making me an apple/strawberry.

Loved this and really related. I'm just under 5ft9in and my biggest issue is sleeve length. I would say 90% of long sleeved clothing is a no-go for me which means I have a measly 10% choice of retailers clothing. There are more tall ranges than there were years ago but it often seems to be a totally different range than their core collection or there is just such limited choice. Your friend was lovely x

Try ASOS Tall...I got some lovely long-sleeved plain sweaters for peanuts. How about menswear smaller sizes for plain sweaters? Modern men's fashion has become much more effeminate so maybe that will play to our advantage.

Absolutely love your knowledge and passion for dressing a real body. I wonder if you could do something for ladies going through menopause. As a lady of ‘a certain age’ I’m struggling with new abdominal weight, which isn’t great on a 5ft frame. Am 6ft tall with and extended family of 10 women the same height. When, WHEN will there be quality clothing made for us?! Such a huge market in Australia - half of my 16 yr old daughter's class is the same height. Big gap in the market here as the few retailers around who purport to do 'tall' really just do regular clothing cut longer so the proportions are all wrong.

The dogs really wanted to be the stars and they did well with their colour co-ordinated outfits. Leonie looked great in everything. I'm the other end, 5'3 like you with longer legs than body, but wow, 3 ft inside leg! Thank goodness Next do the long length, but slightly cropped trousers looked nice on her to. A few good tips. Not a fan of crop anything. But if the model feels confident get it girl! My favorite was the form fitting dress and boots. I’m 6’1 and as my friends say I’m a real six foota! I have long arms, 38 inseam, no hips, and big 13 size feet. My personal style does not include jeans or trousers. I went through a stage where I would pay hundreds of dollars for hi end jeans with a longer inseam (Joes, Seven, Parasuco, and Baby Phat) then one day I woke up. Why try so hard for something that is clearly not for me. It’s really not worth trying to fit in when you were born to stand out. Why are jeans so popular with women anyways? I’m not sold on the comfort. Very few people get the correct size or needed alterations. Now I opt for more feminine dresses and skirts. This has taken my life and professional career to the next level especially if your in a male dominated space. This for any other tall women out there struggling don’t feel like you have to have pants and trousers driving yourself crazy. Dresses and skirts are an option. I go to tall specific brands for the outer layers to make sure the sleeves and cuts hit in the right area. Sending positive vibes!

Still some people just find pants more comfortable, so realistically consumers shouldn't have to make sacrifices instead the fashion industry should provide for all body shapes, heights, and sizes. Of course I don't understand your struggle I'm actually more on the petite end 4'8 which comes with its own set of struggles but that's not our fault nor our problem the industry should accommodate to everything beyond the "avrage".

That was incredibly helpful! I am 5'8" with the same proportions, size 8/M (american) on top and bottom, if it's long sleeved. The big difference is that I am very flat chested (32A) which means if the top is sleevless I can go with 6/S or even 4/XS. Then I run into a problem with dresses/one piece items, the shoulders fit, the hips fit, the chest is always too big. Anyway, I'm really glad I found your channel - thank you for all the help, information, suggestions, etc!

I’m glad this video was made. I’m the same height and of a similar body type. However I wasn’t a fan of the outfits except for the burgundy dress, and the black trousers with the white top ( 15:54 ). I think accommodating a tall hourglass using the rules for an average sized body doesn’t yield results that harmonizes the clothing with the height. Most of the pieces, in theory, seemed nice but in reality the outfits didn’t seem to do her frame justice.

If you're short bodied in comparison to your legs then wearing longer tops will help to re-balance but you could also try the tuck in but at the side location rather than in the middle. Hope that helps x
