A few tips I would like to share from my straight hair journey. Light weight products are key. Kenra has a good blow dry spray and good heat protectant sprays. It's a 10 has a good leave-in heat protectant as well. I have 4c hair and would wear my hair in curls. Minimal amounts of the product is all you need (dime sized) to keep those curls. I would roll or pin curl at night snd the culs would not need to be retouched. Also ceramic irons are healthier than the titanium. When I got the products down, low heat was all I needed 380. Trims will be more frequent. Make sure to use protein and olaplex interchangeabley to keep your beautiful hair strong. Steam treatments with deconditioning helps. Lastly, give your hair breaks like you mentioned. It will take practice, but you will get the hang of it.

You hit it on the nail, my hairstylist uses the Kendra blow dry spray, and it’s a 10 leave in when she does my press and it always comes out bomb.

Thiiiiisssss! Agree! Beautifully written. I rollerset naked or nearly naked hair (sometimes it’s a 10, sometimes colorwow) then use a heat spray to press my roots. I try my hardest to not use direct heat on my ends…but i agree growth does require more frequent trims. Plan to try Kenra, verb and rusk products.

Try spraying your hair with the hair spray IMMEDIATELY after putting the curls in. That way, after you take them out they'll already have some holding power to them. You can do this with overnight curls too.

I know you wanted a silk press but curled blow out look was beautiful. Maybe a flexi rod set on the ends would curl textured hair better. Add a light hold hair spray?

Your hair is beautiful. I just finished watching your other vid re: your journey- appreciate your candidness. Question: have you used the revair dryer or the TYMO hair straightener? If not, maybe you can do a vid about them. I feel like you’d keep it real. ❤

Yes and yes! Love the RevAir but I need to replace it because it randomly stopped working :/. Tymo works fast but doesn’t give the best blow out, there’s ALIC of fizziness. So it depends on what you’re going for.

Curls never last in my hair either 😭I’m sure a holding spray would help maybe something from the Kenra line ? I have yet to try that

I think so too. I’ve never tried Kenra, might need to look into it!

How do you tie your hair at night? I just straighten mine and I’m just keeping it in two low twisted pigtails, but I want to know if there’s a better way than just traditional wrapping. Edit I just watched the week of silk press video. Have you changed your method of wrapping since then?

I now, just do a large Bantu knot up top and place a scarf on

How high of heat did you use when flat ironing? I noticed if I keep it low at 250 I get less of a ‘silk press’ look then if I use 350-400 (but as high as this is not usually recommended I think). Thanks for letting me know!

250 is not suffice for a silk press, I would say 375 to 400 is a good range, for me I always keep it under 400. If you do one slow pass at 400, it’s going to be better than doing multiple passes at 250 or 300.

I typically use something in the low 400s

Hi! Do you use a titanium or ceramic flat iron to straighten your hair? I heard titanium was too damaging… I’m afraid to use a titanium flat iron regularly…
