Jiggidy George this is exactly what I was hoping would happen that folks would get motivated and start experimenting with styroaircrete and build a lawnmower shredder. Yours came out really well and it looks like you used a little smaller grate wire which I think is a good thing. I just released the third video entitled aircrete styrofoam fire test and I shared the different mixes I have been using. Keep up the experimenting and great video.

Thanks! You mentioned hard water and that is indeed a problem. I once sold and installed water softeners and our main demonstration was the difference in soap bubbles verses the "scum" that the hard water produced. Theory is that the soap must first "clean" the hard water and if concentration is strong enough will have strength to create- and sustain - bubbles.

Basic recipe for non-autoclaved lightweight aerated concrete (aircrete) with 600lbs kg/m3 density: -Ordinary Portland cement -Limestone powder (particles up to 0.05 mm) -Aluminum powder MEPCO 7520 or any Aluminum powder with blaine value 15,000 cm2/g and more Dry mix formula: 50% cement (by weight) + 50% limestone powder. For 1 kg of dry mix you need 500g cement and 500g limestone powder Mixture formula for for 700kg/m3 density: 1 kg of dry mix0.65 liters of water, 1 g of aluminum powder for 100 kg of dry mix you will 65 liters of water and 100 g of aluminum powder. How to mix it: 1. Add water in the bucket. 2. Add dry mix in the water and mix it for a couple of minutes. 3. Add aluminum powder and mix 1-2 minutes. 4. Check video for graphene dry mix ratio and add 5. Pour in mold Videos are on KZbin.

What kind of stress load can this stuff handle? Has anyone done load failure tests on samples? I have made gardening containers and bird baths before from what's called hypertufa, I assume after the light weight volcanic rock tufa. Traditional mixes call for chopped straw or peat moss but my favorite additive was perlite. For some items I used a type of fast drying water proof plaster called hydro-cal.

The motor cover might be designed to direct the airflow to cool the motor. If you only run it for 5 minutes and let it cool for 10 minutes it'll probably be fine.

Apparently styrofoam can give off fairly nasty outgassing(?) --- I am interested in building with this stuff as styro aircrete, but not so sure I will be able to get past code in anywhere on the west coast or that it is safe to try. I have to wonder if some kind of vapor barrier would save me there? I am a couple years away from building so I have time to tinker, but have to get it right. "Most rigid polystyrene foam insulation boards, both the EPS and XPS types, contain the toxic flame retardant HBCD." Worth checking into. Sheds and outdoor walls, sure, but I want to build a house that i live in long term...

To help with the static claim of the styrofoam you might spray some static cling spray that you would use for laundry on your hands and maybe on some of the surfaces that tend to hold on to the styrofoam I don't know if that would help it seems like it would at least so you don't have so much clean up on your hands and stuff and to keep it moving

That is a great idea! Thanks! The big "pillow case" works amazingly well and it pours like water into what ever container/bag I use. I would like to see if a garbage bag full will collapse with a vacuum... then storing will be made easier.
@frankfrederick51582 жыл бұрын
@@ruggedist Heavy Duty garbage bags work well with a vacuum on them. Just fill to about 3/4 full and seal well by twisting the top and taping.

What is the difference in insulation rating between the two types of aircrete ??? Does the aircrete have a stronger compression strength over styrofoam aircrete ??? Thanks for your time P.S. I often thought of using a mower with a plastic bucket from the tree root ball container to shred styrofoam for the mix. I guess great minds think alike. One more thing, where do you get styrofoam for cheap ??? Good day too.
@mandiegarrett1706 Жыл бұрын
I think Stephen Williams mentioned in one of his videos that you can get free Styrofoam from furniture retail stores for hauling big items and they ended up throwing them away anyway so they would gladly give them to you for free. I have not tried it yet as I am still in the researching phase.

@@mandiegarrett1706 I am wondering about the compression strength of the material mixed with the cement. Am no expert on styrofoam at all. Please relay what you find out Mandie, I would be interested in the information myself. Peace

@@victoryfirst2878 If you are wanting to know the strength and compression then you need to check out this video. Search "how strong is aircrete?? Please let me know your thoughts on that video of the test. Thanks.

Is this new "styroaircrete" as flame retardant as aircrete? Also, where do U live that will allow a tiny home?
@ruggedist2 жыл бұрын
The styroaircrete needs a coating of stucco. That should make it fire proof. It will be interesting to test with a torch though. I live in Ontario, Canada, minutes from Georgian Bay. New regulations now allow for tiny homes to be set on your property with min. 300 Sq. ft up to max 860.
