When my daughter was a little girl, she loved this song. Even when she got older, it would soothe her. She had many medical problems starting at age 4 with rheumatoid arthritis. She died in April 2019. So I cried through your song today, but it is mixed grief and joy. I’ll finish with her message. Bee Kind 💕🐝

I have been to many concerts in my 57 years but the best all around sound, lights, stage and crowd was Styx Paradise Theater tour at the Cow Palace in San Francisco I was 15 years old I will never forget thousands of people singing this song together! The show started with Dennis DeYoung coming up through the stage playing his white grand piano.. I'm so glad I grew up during this time in music. I am enjoying reliving it though watching you discover it. 😀

Do yourself a favor and check out the title track from that album “The Grand Illusion” and “Fooling Yourself”(the angry young man). “Crystal Ball” is also a great one, and “Suite: Madam Blue”. Enjoy my friend! 🎸

It took me until age 46 to admit that I was an atheist. (I was raised Jewish, and for a long while it felt as if saying "Come on, there's no God. You think millions of innocent children would be dying in horrible pain RIGHT NOW, if some "God" could stop it?" was betraying all my cousins and co-religionists who died for their faith.) That said, I think this song is the closest I'll ever come to a religious experience. "A gathering of angels appeared above my head They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said" Bless you, Dennis.

Sell it to our favorite music reactor by pointing out that Derringer got Weird Al on the track that led to Al's success. And I had the "All American Boy" album back in the day, but alas, I bought it on 8-track, so naturally within a year it got munched in the player. Tech is much better today than it was back then, though I still enjoy listening to vinyl, but that requires a decent turntable, which I also fortunately still own.

Funny how music takes you on some amazing rides. As I started, I was with many of you going back to high school. Smiling. Then bam. This was my brother's favorite band. We would argue about it. He loved this type of music. Me more of the southern rock and heavier sounds. Smiling ear to ear. Great times! Man I need to send this reaction to Bert I begin to tell myself. Sorrow yet still smiling a bit, memory of extreme physical pain, shaking like a leaf, crying, as I am going thru colo-rectal cancer treatment when I get the csll. No this can't be, I was just talking to him the other day. Begging my wife to tell me it's not true. Alas, God had decided that Bert was needed in heaven. Seven years ago a couple of days before Memorial Day my older and only brother was called to Heaven. Thank you for these memories. The great, the good, the sad. These are what make each of us who we are. Believe me, you have just made a ordinary night better for this old man.

I feel you Ron. This one brings back memories of my best friend David. This was one of his favorites and for as long as I knew him he said he wanted me to sing this one at his funeral. Thank you both for the remarks. The sorrow is but one of the emotions I had, but I was trying to convey the emotional ride one can have listening to music. I have heard this song and others many times before. It was when I was watching Jamel's reaction that they all hit, which is what made it so great. He would have loved the reaction as much as we do. I wasn't trying to gain sympathy, as in the end the happiness is greater. I was really thanking Jamel for his hard work and great channel. Thank you

@@ronbertka He's amazing, isn't he? Your comment just spoke to me as I was planning on commenting on the video myself and your story and the song had similar connotations with mine. That pure joy that registers on Jamel's face when he listens to a song just brings back so many great memories of the first time hearing it or something significant that happened in our lives that we associate with whatever he's listening to. I look forward to checking out his uploads every night when I get home from work.

Most of the bands I like best are the ones that had multiple songwriters and multiple lead vocalists in the band. I think that always contributed to having a wide variety of sounds and seemed to make most of those bands less one-dimensional and more rounded. Bands like Styx, Eagles, Beatles, Queen, Supertramp, KISS, The Band, Chicago.
