I just absolutely love this band! And I'm so glad they are still around, because America is in big trouble, and we need this.😢❤️🙏❤️🎶🌍✌️💯

That is a joke. Check out the original version of this song. This is a lame attempt to do justice to a great great song.

1975 "...so lift up your heart, and make a new start... and lead us away from here..." Red The color red represents hardiness and valor, as well as courage and readiness to sacrifice. It is also sometimes said to represent the blood shed by those who have fought to protect our freedom and our country. Blue The color blue signifies justice for all, as well as vigilance and perseverance. A reminder that we must remain watchful and strong. White The color white stands for purity and innocence. Pure, because we are independent from other countries and hold true to our ideals. So what DeYoung is expressing in the first verse appears to be his unwavering patriotism. But that noted, in the second verse he still lets it be known, to his dismay, that his country is not as globally influential as it once was. And again, it’s not as if Dennis DeYoung is advocating war or anything like that. But it’s more like to him America has “changed” - and not in a good way. In fact what he seems to be implying in the chorus is that her negative transformation is the result of having grown too powerful, i.e. ‘conquering the world and more’. And it also seems he’s poetically saying something like, concerning her glory days, that they are permanently behind her. So what he is desiring, as illustrated in the final passage, is that the country “make a new start”, as in readjust its vision and “lead” the people to a more glorious path than the one that it is currently on. So even though this song may be critical of America it isn’t anti-establishment, as with many other similarly-natured tracks that were coming out during the post-Vietnam era, even though to some degree it is anti-war. It’s pretty clear that the vocalist does in fact love his country, and nothing is going to stop him from doing so. Such sentiment is partially based on him looking back to the past, when her situation was more ideal than it is now. And that would also be one of the reasons why he uses the word “suite”, a homonym of sweet, to describe her. Nonetheless he is obviously concerned with America’s present standing and its current trajectory. So conclusively, he is calling for the nation to reset its vision.

Madame Blue is one of Denis De Young’s best songs! I actually learned the guitar 🎸 intro on it as a kid and the chords. The problem with Styx is De Young wanted to do softer songs and ballads and Tommy Shaw and James Young wanted to play rock!. I got the impression that De Young wanted to go solo and be the next Barry Manilow! And he should have done that instead of staying in Styx! They did end up splitting anyway!

Styx has a very loyal fan base, and they owe them a reunion tour before we are all too old........

Dennis had a light sensitivity problem. Then he was fired from the band he helped form. You might want to look here on YT to Dennis De Young and the music of STYX. Better than this version. Look Dyn, people love a band that can rattle the fillings in your teeth and then turn around and play a sappy love song. I am a musician. I know of what i am speaking. How many hits have this 2nd rate act had since DDY was fired? Evidently you don't know much about the STYX band. Tommy wasn't even in the band when this song was first put out.

Dennis de young was a controlling diva, too bad he had some great visions for songs but a band is a democracy not a dictatorship, we've seen this far too often.
