Su-25T Frogfoot FREE DCS tutorial series | Land like a BOSS #dcs #su25T #frogfoot
For those that are new to DCS World, this is the aircraft you get for free and this tutorial series will be aimed at a brand new player with limited or no experience with a flight simulator.
You will be exposed to the mission editor, learn how to make missions that allow you to practice the skills required to master DCS from the ground up and also be able to fly sorties along side the tutorial videos at the same time.
In today's tutorial we will take a look at flying a basic landing pattern in the Su-25T and practice landing the Su-25T.
This series structure will apply to any other module you would like to learn and will give you the building blocks and steps required to go from ZERO to HERO!

Was just flying circuits around Koboleti yesterday after following the navigation video. Found out the hard way about coming in too fast (forgot my speedbrakes) for the parachute, lol. As you said, practicing so I can get gooderer.

That’s it mate, it’s just repetition after repetition and eventually you just get a feel for it and can do it with your eyes closed… I’m still not there with the Su-25T, I’m struggling with keeping a coordinated turn more than anything else as it is a lot more stick and rudder intensive than the newer fly by wire aircraft so it’s good to be able to catch myself out and correct my slip indicator with rudder. It’s slowly becoming an instinctive thing now to use rudder with roll, the same will happen to you with throttle control and amount of pull you apply

Holy shit I never realized you could leave the ruler up like that in the ME...no more guessing setting up my carrier battle groups! Not sure if you did it in a previous video, but you can RShift-H (I think) for HUD sunglasses to read the HUD. Can't wait to see the next entry in the series!! Keep it up matey

@@TorniQuetHD Yeah learning the Soviet style steam gauges...it's an acquired taste! Have you tried the Su-25? Its navigation system is so janky...but I love it because it doesn't look like a catfish like the Su-25T does :D

@@TorniQuetHD it’s hilarious…there are lights on the navigation system on the right console for waypoints 1, 2, and 3, and starting and landing airfields. But it’s somehow more fun and cooler than the 25T. I got on a Frogfoot and Fulcrum kick while waiting for the current patch to fix the Hornet bugs.

perfect tutorial vid ! question : this pattern arrival works for most fighters, but for more agile fighters ( like SU-27/33 Mig29 or F16 F15 FA18 ) I have seen the break turn from upwind into downwind performed by attaining a certain amount of in-turn G-Force to bleed off the speed of the airframe ( relationship is upwind speed (Knots) vs G force manoeuver/banking angle ), could you demonstrate how the calculation or practice run is correctly made ? also when touching down, it is most commonly practice that pilots extend the speedbrakes ( unless they are positioned under the airframe ), not ?
@TorniQuetHD
@TorniQuetHD Жыл бұрын
I believe from memory it is 1% G from airspeed so 350 knots would be a 3.5G pull and as speed bleeds off so does pull to match airspeed to G. You kinda just get a feel for it after a while. As for the speed brakes it depends on the aircraft, some aircraft like the viper and tomcat you have the speed brakes out for landing but hornet isn’t a common practice to use them for full duration of landing sequence. The reason for having them out during landing is more to keep engine RPM higher so there is less delay in throttle inputs if you need to bail out of the approach and wave off. Speed brakes make the engines have a higher RPM for same landing speed essentially

russian aircraft of that era are all metric, so km/h instead of knots airspeed, meters instead of feet altitude/height, meters per second instead of feet per minute for vertical speed

is it allowed to straight land without pattern?
@TorniQuetHD
@TorniQuetHD Жыл бұрын
You sure can but most people use the pattern as a way to alert other aircraft on the ground you are coming into land rather than a long straight in. I’ve found that doing straight ins resulted in more accidents from player aircraft taxiing out onto the runway as you’re in on final cuz they didn’t know you were landing. If you’re flying overhead you give everyone a better heads up that you intend on landing so they will be mindful when taxiing out onto the runway
@kurtb369
@kurtb369 Жыл бұрын
@@TorniQuetHD I guess, it's good practice on multi-sever to announce verbally that you are inbound to Airfield + runway heading, then when on final announce again ... so people know your mins from touching down ...... and then you still have the joy of people launching themselves into opposite direction .... the joys of multiservers ;-)

@@TorniQuetHD makes u wonder if it's realistic though lol. I told Matt Wagner that the su25t takes down Sam sites so easily it just targets Sam sites on the HUD and fire away the kh missiles from far. I said to him the f18 is not as strong in that regard and he said because f18 is high fidelity. 🤷

@@erfguuipo8084 100% landing hard and breaking things is realistic mate. And as for weapons doing their jobs in DCS compared to real life is never going to be 100% accurate as you can’t replicate the many factors that come into play with weapons… how long has it been sitting in storage not being used… how reliable was it handled and transported to the flightline to be loaded by the ordnance crews… did the ordnance crew load and test everything correctly whilst being under the pump with super tight deadlines to have aircraft ready for launches etc… the list of unknowns in real life vs a sim is incomparable. I know for a fact that to load 2 mk82 dumb bombs onto an aircraft takes hours to complete not the 10secs it does in DCS cuz I used to do that for a job once upon a time. It’s never going to stack up to real life but for most of us in this community it’s the closest we will ever come to strapping into a fighter jet and doing what we can do in here 👌🏻👌🏻
