But they already have R-77-1 in the files. R-27EA wouldn't even be that much of an upgrade over the 77-1, so why would they spend the time to make it at all? Fox-3 fights will be more about how fast you can recommit to slowly gain position. Eventually it gets to a point where for one party, it matters not how good your missiles are. You can't recommit without dying. Or one party runs out of Fox-3's first. Or both parties exhaust their Fox-3's and it's a dogfight.

The R-27EA was a paper concept, maybe a prototype built but I don’t think it ever flew.

imo the 27er is still going to be a very competitive missile as you can still fly somewhat offensively while maintaining a lock unless they go completely cold, it's by far the best fox 1 in the game and it's not even close

i believe that a lot of TKS gonna happen by the FOX-3s, sometimes the fox1s are just better to use like in close headons for exemple

The age of ER's dominance is very much over. It will still be a viable missile. But it will no longer be the top dog. As good as the kinetics are, SARH just brings too many limitations compared to ARH.

The R-27ER has more range and speed. You can win a BVR engagement if you play mindgames with you Opponent. Launching out of MAE for example just to give him the missile notification. What do you think ?

to launch it you need a hard lock anyway, it is only possible to have a successful engagement this way if the enemy persists in making the mistake

I say the AMRAAM is superior in that you can go defensive while also being offensive, granted that would certainly change if they added the R27EA.

ER only really has range over Aim-120A/B. The ARH seeker gives the AMRAAM user more options than afforded by ER's SARH guidance. AMRAAM holds the edge without contest.
