The SU-35 job was to defend their wing bomber by takinge down 2 of 3 patriots missiles. A drone operator missing in the chat likely warned Central command of Rus airforce of a missile launch of Patriots. I'm sure that as soon as our doctrine will change (and it's alreadg changing because we have to keep up to Russia and China) our propaganda will tell us something different. Sad reality of things is that we live in a little bubble of bs, because manouvrabilities always matter and what still matter is high speed; high speed matters maybe even more than "stealth" in some specific cases.

What was the most dangerous thing that the US Army faced? Like Kub SA-6? Just this engagement was made at a distance of approx. 90 km! To make things even more challenging, thanks to AESAs and active radar homing, you don't even know if a missile was fired at you unless your radar, GCI or A50 doesn't detect it. Mocking both Russian and Ukrainian losses is nonsense, considering the sheer power of nowadays SAM's.

The reason why the pilot managed to survive is because he had a ground radar or AWACS close enough to detect Patriot missiles and warn him to get away, without them he would've been f*cked. With such an early warning pretty much any modern aircraft could have pulled off what this Su-34 did, it didn't perform anything extraordinary that sets it apart from other similar aircraft. Regarding Su-34 being a "masterpiece", well, since the start of the war in Ukraine about one quarter of all Su-34s ever produced have been destroyed. For the sake of comparison, the number of Su-34s alone that Russia lost to enemy action in less than 3 years in Ukraine is about the same as ALL fixed wing aircraft of all types that the US lost to enemy action since the end of the Vietnam war (and more than a half of those were actually aircraft from the 60s and 70s, only a handful were modern). I'm not a pilot but from a data analysis point of view that doesn't really seem like a "masterpiece" performance. On the subject of pilot skills, in every conflict the US participated it established air superiority without suffering significant losses. How come Russia never managed to gain air superiority in Ukraine? How come we never saw them perform SEAD/DEAD? How come almost three years into the war they still can't enter Ukrainian air space and mostly rely on hurling missiles and glide bombs from a safe distance (and yet despite being cautious they still suffered atrocious aircraft losses)? Again, I'm not a pilot, but all available data indicates that the Russian air force is nowhere near as effective as the US.

They were at less than 1000 ft pulling hard Gs at max thrust. You heard them pulling left and then switching back to pull right, making the Patriot, which has to pull lead on them, have to make a 180° turn to pull lead on them again. This is long after the Patriot expended all its fuel and no longer has thrust. Its pretty hard to pull a 180° and keep flying when you no longer have thrust. Sure, you can manage it with long slow turns but that's not an option for a SAM. I thought they did a great job.👍

If he is just turning left and right over and over the degree change at range is small. Enough to cause extra drag on the missile though.

I bet those pilots didn't sleep easy that night. I don't care what country the pilot's from, evading any kind of modern SAMs is absolutely terrifying. Also they should have bought a lottery ticket right after landing, because it's obviously their lucky day.

Hearing these guys talking through coms like that is quite something when you never have been in this kind of situation, seeing ground combat footage put names and face on numbers we hear everyday on the news channel, and that's already a tiny fraction of what's really happening on the ground. But hearing this is even more rare for a common civilian like me. I can't imagine how much stress these guys are enduring these guys are staring a Death everyday. That's pretty crazy.

What do I think. There would not be this very expensive blood bath by both sides if the arms merchants had not been pushing for Ukraine's inclusion into NATO. This is/was contrary to many verbal assurances by various US officials over the years that NATO would not be expanded to USSR / Russia's borders. Lot of bad karma - these people don't know the meaning of guilt or conscience, alien emotions to sociopaths.

the supporting "radar" is the SU-35S pilot. In RU tactics SU-35S is a "small AVACS" which controls airspace in radius of 200-300 kms and controls allies activities
@CHRISKASSMUKEN3 ай бұрын
Wow these Russian pilots are actually good. They communicate with controller and navigator. I'm suprised how they can all see the missile comming from far and still evade all of them. that mean if they can see those missile they can create a counter missile that can interact this the missile. This is brilliant, it mean if AI is integrated this their radar on a bot missile it could counter the patriot missile. Russian are genius.
