On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

Former Thunderbirds pilot Ryan Bodenheimer (KZbin channel "Max Afterburner") has been bringing a real-life famous Top Gun pilot, callsign Grey Ghost, onto his channel to fly in his simulator. He's still getting used to flying in DCS instead of in a real aircraft (apparently the F-16 stick doesn't move in a real aircraft, you just press against it?). Anyway, you might try to help him get used to the simulator, and then perhaps you could fly against each other, once he gets the hang of it. Apparently he won lots of Top Gun awards. The video Ryan has of him is titled "F-16 Gray Ghost Pilot DESTROYS Russian Fighter Jets in DCS".

That shot reminded me of a chapter from Pierre Clostermanns book. His flight of Spitfires were escorting a flight of Hawker Typhoons over the english channel carrying a payload each of a 500 pound bomb under each wing, but still doing 600km/h - 380mph. At 30feet altitude. The Spitfires were struggeling to keep up.

How does a METEOR fired fired from 500' at ~10 miles have a higher PK..? Than an R77 fired from 14,000' and ~10 miles ...? Easy. It's kinematic magic: See..? NATO missiles can CLIMB _and_ accelerate to Mach 2.5 ... Faster (somehow) than a Russian rocket can hit Mach 4.5 ... in a dive. It's perfectly explicable: Once you realize the devs are rabid nationalist nazis who can't stand Russians.

I've seen it before in other videos, when you're defending a fox 3, why are you dropping flares? Are the countermeasures combined in DCS? If not, what its the rationale for using flares on a non-ir seeker?

sometimes you see flares because some aircraft run programs where they drop both flare and chaff.

which is actually pretty useful if you're fighting these russian fighters, because russian doctrine is to take a long fox2 shot and then a follow up fox3 shot so you have to always assume there is some IR missile in the air when fighting the russians.
