GoPro footage play-by-play. This is not a recap. I will link the recap below this one with many details on the Woodlands marathon if you are considering running it.
In the meantime check out ‪@allheartrc‬ Evan and Cole just crushed their sub 3 goals at the age of 17 and 12! And MK is a legend.
The full recap will also include the lead-up to the marathon, the expo, why the heartrate was so high, family things as well, so I will likely chapter it.

Glad the GoPro captured how humid it was. Looks like running through a swamp.

Being able to adjust your goals mid race and not blow up is a powerful skill to have. Reset, rest up and go back to work for the fall.

good job MidLifer. All these experiences add up. Way to hang in there, valuable valuable experience. You'll be there soon. Just need a good day with health, weather etc... and you'll crush ur goal. Keep putting in the work... it's all cumulative.

I woke up in a new bugatti 💪🤘exemplified the mindset of a champion, how you flexed your goals during the race based on resulting effort, that was very poised despite I trust some heartbreak, but damn that was a healthy mindset. Yes I’m pushing hard for my spring A-goal but it might be over-reaching, more training ahead but you remind me to not be too hard on myself and live to race another day. True A-grade Wankah right there…(like canadian maple syrup grading scale), the best of best wankahs!! Cheers brother

Amazing job of managing your expectations based on the reality of the day. You are doing something a few % on the planet can do. Think to yourself what you would've told someone a few years ago if they said you'd be running back to back marathons at a 7 minute mile pace. Amazing feat my friend. Keep at it and one day you be able to ouch that Boulder over the peak and punch Zeus in the d**k (a little Sisyphus joke there for ya). Congrats man, I knownits not what you wanted but it's one helluva accomplishment!!

I posted on your site some weeks ago, "possible, not probable", due entirely to insufficient recovery from the last race. In a nutshell you tried to defy the running gods - that rarely happens. I get it, I used to think I could defy running lore too. I finally went sub 3 at age 46 only after I accepted I am a weekend warrior and runners who want to race a strong marathon and improve performance and speed should focus on no more than two marathons a year. Great effort, you're good, but you're human, and with a sensible approach being fair to yourself you'll do it for sure. But I think you know all this....

Yeah I rolled the dice. Happy to have not gotten myself injured . Now to some base building and a speed block over the summer before a fall marathon

When it comes to the marathon, less is more. No point chasing a time off the back of one that didn’t go your way. Just take the L, learn the lessons, get back to shorter distances and go again either in the fall or next year. It takes months to recover from a marathon
