Subaru Baja’s are underrated

Ever since I was a kid, I never saw myself buying a truck. Now, before everyone goes up in arms defending trucks... I get it. There is some trucks I actually do like and are very practical. BUT. That is not what this video is about.
I recently bought a project vehicle that needs a lot work to make into a weird overland/daily vehicle. I will definitely keep you all updated on how the project is going.

Weather stripping wasn’t too bad as most of it was still good… bed clips and body panel clips I had to buy some clips and do some work to get them to fit

5 hours to get your Baja, damn. Not too far off from how long it took to get mine, and that was a yellow 03 base with AT. Yes, the yellow is ugly but iconic.

@@OutboundIntent I love the Baja, but I've been working on it more than I've been driving it. Eventually I think I'll fix it to the point where I'll be able to daily it again. I swear the looks you get while driving this thing are priceless. Had to replace the head gaskets with turbo gaskets since it is a NA engine. My subframe in the rear cracked on the mounting location right above the driver side tire. The camber of the tire was out way far and luckily, I caught that before I had a blowout. Currently, have the old subframe out and found a nice coated one on eBay. I think it's worth it. PS. Love the color you picked out, I have yet to see that olive on a Baja. Maybe look into the LED rear lights and the JDM headlight conversions after you finish the other work. Looks great so far!

Yeah I could see how that could happen 😬 I was expecting to have it done by fall but I found so many things I wanted to fix while I’m not driving it and I’m sure I’ll find more. Getting a new subframe is smart… I should’ve done that while I had mine down. I’m excited for you to get it as your daily again, I’m sure it is real fun to drive. And thank you! I have a video coming out this week that will give a quick update on the progress and you’ll get to see the paint. Great idea! I’ll look into those lights

@@OutboundIntent Glad to help out with my perspective on the car. Fun when it works. Gotta keep in mind that it is nearly a 20 year old model. In my case, my Baja is 20 years old. Subaru made some budget cutting choices on the Bajas that eventually really make them rust out without proper care and maintenance. So finding old ones laying around to fix up is 100% a learning experience. By the way since you already have a lift installed, I highly recommend looking into a Whiteline rear sway bar and Whiteline adjustable end-links for the 2002 legacy. They bolt right up to the Baja's hardware as far as I know. Just do some research as I have a 2003 Baja, and they made some pretty big changes to the suspension between '03 and '04 models. The Whiteline sway bar has 20mm diameter in comparison to the factory one around 15-16mm. Big upgrade. If you do end up wanting to replace the subframe, the seller I got my subframe from was on ebay, ramcharger_21. Parts arrived with a coating.

Would watch Chrisfix for some knowledge and ideas , lot of diy info on his channel .I'm not gonna lie its ugly as sin but lots of room for improvements, then again it don't matter if it gets the job done.

Absolutely, Chrisfix is awesome... and yeah I cannot disagree with you on that haha it is an ugly little thing. I have some ideas though to make it less ugly.

After watching this I looked up the Baja and looked at images on Google ,Came to this conclusions ... Looks less ugly in a solid color then again might just be me.

That is one of the biggest things that can change the look, the grey side panels are downright disgusting. Once I get the lift on and the engine tuned up, the paint work will begin.
