I'm looking forward to video 560. I want to see if you can replace the steering rack without breaking any rusty bolts.

Great video Jimmy. and yes, from a customer point of view, that would put me off big time to come in to have something simple fixed and then be told I needed all the rest. One thing that might perhaps help, is to make sure the customer knows, without question, that all those add-ons are 100% optional fix, no matter how important they are. Some folks don't read or listen carefully and they just ASSume that the garage is attempting to rip them off. And some folks just don't like to be offered extra things. The attitude there is "I know what I want, you don't need to tell me different" - trust me on that one, from some one who worked telephone customer service for WAY too many years. (I tried to refund one customer $2 we owed him, he thought I was trying to cheat him, said he didn't want the $2 and to cancel his service!) Now, as a mechanics wife, I think it is a good thing to let folks know if something is wrong, but not everyone has that view! Have an awesome day!

I agree Jimmy hit owners with a big quote for work most times in your shop will see them just say no,best to say these need doing the other stuff can wait,lots of shops are going for the throat and scaring people away

Yeah, once any shop/chain store starts focusing on numbers, customer service and cleanliness seem to fall off.

Thanks for the video Jimmy! I put a small engine carburettor through the ultrasonic cleaner today, first time I've tried it for that. It did a great job on the carb but cleaning the fuel tank just showed up all the rust holes!
@JimmyMakingitwork9 сағат бұрын
That is cool, need to get something like that for the shop. Carbs seem more durable than gas tanks for sure!

They finally got you the Standard vacuum actuator for the F150. Hopefully the Dorman retaining bushing doesn't give any trouble. Dorman products. For those technicians who love their jobs so much they get to do it over and over and over again! I'd be quite frustrated by this point.

I like the colored stitching but not a fan of CVT's.

The Subaru updated TCV has stainless steel internals, shaft, etc. The old units are binding from corrosion. Makes the ECM confused. All the ones I saw stick open, no overheating. Some don't, and cook the motor. Florida weather up here in the Northeast, 84 degrees and sunny skies. The leaves are also changing colour, it's weird. Good video Jimmy.

Thank you Todd! We are working on the Subaru next week once parts arrive!
@ToddMcDonald-zh4ym9 сағат бұрын
@JimmyMakingitwork The TCV is an intermediate level job. Enjoy. The blue thermostat indicator light is a good sign, I've driven many cars, and nothing happens in the short run. If it's red, the motor is usually cooked. Subarus light up like a Christmas tree for any little problem. It's a good thing, and it freaks people out. Most won't drive it until they have it serviced. Have a great day!

@JimmyMakingitwork Check the valves for carbon build-up when the intake is off. I have seen many coked up, people don't do proper maintenance or use top tier gasoline. I'm seeing many coked up with no codes or drivabilty issues.

I am so glad I didn't get Blindsight for my '17 Forester. I recall from the suby forums one complaint posted dealing with it. Dealer wanted $3K for a new camera. Customer declined , went DIY detective and found a spider and web in front of one of the lenses. Problem solved.

Sir. Jimmy of Dorman aftermarket land. Great video. Was 110th viewer today. Guilty of hitting snooze on the alarm today. Hanging drywall yesterday found muscles did know were there. This getting thing is for the birds. Can't wait for tomorrow's South Main Auto Florida Edition with the rack and rust. As for the snack yesterday, I appreciate you, production crew, wound effects department, and extras. Was the least I could do. Have a great day, and thanks for all you do.
