Thanks for the video Jimmy! I picked up a nice steering wheel for my Montero today, exactly the same as the old one but 200K miles less worn and only $50 USD. Mine is still ok but the stitching is starting to go at 22 years and 260K miles. Meanwhile my neighbour's Subaru is worn through the leather on his wheel at 8 years and 80K miles. I'd love to know what changed that these interiors are wearing out so fast.

Lack of maintenence. I have an old bug eye. Clean and treat the steering wheel regular. Still looks brand new.

@@ToddMcDonald-zh4ym I think your bug eye is probably from before interior materials became so flimsy. I'm not intending to pick on Subaru, I feel like every brand lost ground after about 2010. In my case the Montero model I have was sold from 2000 to 2018. My (2002) interior is in better shape than 2012 onwards versions with much less miles.

@warrantyvoid100 I have 2011 Colorado with 240,000 miles. Well maintained. Still looks and drives like new. I will see how my 22 WRX lasts. So far, it's been a great vehicle. Just over 40,000 miles.

Yeah, like many things they tend to cut costs and see how it goes. Sometimes they go back if it leads to trouble, at least the successful brands do. ;)

I kind of like Flat Rate. It can be stressful, but a reward based system encourages good work ethic, or seems to for me.

I feel your pain dealing with cavemen. I like to ask people if they pair their socks or throw them in the drawer. Their answer lets me know what I can expect most of the time. If efficiency and organization were ingrained into everyone we would probably be in China.
