Tip for getting the input shaft aligned with the clutch: if the input shaft won’t go in and there’s a 1/2 inch gap between the transmission and the engine, use a breaker bar and try turning the bolt on the crankshaft pulley in the front of the engine a little until they connect.

i had an 01 alero that had a bad wheel bearing on it... had it replaced at a dealer on the seller's dime... turns out dude didn't tighten that big nut nearly enough. i got five feet out of the door and hit the brakes and went straight back in and told them something was wrong because my brakes were messed up... a mechanic test-drove it and said it was fine. i had to go home and take it apart myself to figure out what was wrong. suffice it to say i never went back to that place after i made them fix it.. which, somehow, when they weren't getting payed, took about 1/8 the time. but yeah, those symptoms.. brake pedal shooting almost to the floor, steering off, wobble, and grinding sounds from the caliper mount scraping on the brake disc.. that's one of those CV nuts not tightened right.

For the pilot bearings to pop them out I just do the ole trick fill with grease and get a socket and extension the same diameter socket and the volume of grease and force forward pushes the bearing out even bread works but it's a mess of crumbs and not really worth the time I've seen the bread trick done haha

Hey Brian, I have an oil leak at the rear of the motor on my 03 wrx. Which is easier pulling the motor or the transmission.
@samallen97610 жыл бұрын
i pulled my 2.2 in my 96 legacy to do the seals but when your back there the usual culprit is the oil seperator cover you can probably do seals with tranny out but if you have ever pulled a seal its gonna be easier to pull engine where you have acces to back of engine good luck and i would pay close attention to those torque values you dont want to be a stripper who doesnt get paid lol oh and i dont have experience with turbos they have down pipes and stuff i wpold research that too so your less likely to screw somrthing up good luck subys are worth the effort in my book

How do you break in a new clutch?, I put one in my car then loaded it up and drove out with me and 2 others and luggage up across the rocky mountains from Denver right after a I put it in. but even now I'll smell clutch when pushing the engine hard. Even being in a lower gear going up a hill I'll still smell it.
@dans_Learning_Curve10 жыл бұрын
Was the flywheel resurfaced? New pressure plate? Gripping surfaces free of grease? Is the linkage fully releasing? Do you have any free travel on the pedal? You shouldn't be smelling it! Unless you're doing high RPM engagements!
@g6qwerty10 жыл бұрын
dansMETube Yeah whole new clutch assembly from car-quest and had Napa resurface the flywheel. The cable and linkage is fully released as theirs play in the cable. been like this since I first drove it, All I did was drive it home about 27miles , then load it up 3 adults and luggage, and drive it across the rocky mountains on I-70.
