Another entertaining review Blu, thank you. I agree with most of your comments. We currently have an older 2l Impreza with CVT. Real world fuel consumption (calculated at every fill separate from the cars calculation) is 8.1l p/100km. The CVT takes a lot to get used to. I've found it operates best if you drive with the literal egg under your go fast foot. Then it's smooth, responsive and quiet. Unfortunately it will let you down when you need it most, i.e under heavy acceleration such as turning across traffic at a "T" intersection. This is when it feels unsafe. Subarus are beautifully engineered and reliable. They drive great and fit standard body sizes comfortably. More important to me when buying a car is what fuel it uses. The more desirable turbo assisted cars all seem to require 95+ while I'm looking for reasonable performance with 91 fuel. Good review but nothing there temps me to outlet any cash. I'm looking forward to seeing your review of the Solterra.

Thanks Paul. Yes, for me the CVT is the fly in the ointment of pretty much all current Subaru. The exception is the Turbo Outback which has the torque to overcome the slushy slurring of the trans. I’m convinced if they swapped out the CVT for a standard 7 or 8-speed auto in their vehicles, Subaru would see a huge uptick in sales. (I know I’d probably buy an Outback for my wife, but not with a CVT). Thanks again for watching Paul. I always welcome your eyeballs and comments on my clips. 👍
