Ah doesnt get old :) its very handy to have, merging, off the lights. This isnt a sports car, nor is it sold as one, this is a family car with poke. And closest thing to a shooting brake. with coilovers , wider tyres, softer front sway, it would possibly be more spirited. But not what it was sold as. :)

New owner here. I agree. Too heavy, and not enough feedback from the connection to the road to be a fair dinkum hot hatch contender. For me the beauty is that I can drive it sensibly and reasonably economically, then bung it in Sport, and go nuts. And damn, go nuts is an understatement. 😱😂 Bearing mind I'm a moto guy, not a car guy, the greatest compliment I can give is that my XPower overtakes like a fast motorbike. 😱 Despite occasional hooning, current economy calculates to over 400km range. It's a good car with minor flaws, and runout sales here meant I paid much less than $NZ65k. A few extra dollars spent by MG could have made it amazing. I'm really struggling to find the right words for this - I'd say it's more a car that adds enjoyment to driving, as distinct from a car you drive for the enjoyment of driving, if that makes sense. 🤷

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I’m pleased to hear you’re taking the XPOWER at face value and enjoying it the way it delivers best. Long may your satisfaction with it last. Cheers for watching. 👍

So the MG4 XPower would compete against the Kia EV6 GT, Hyundai Ioniq 5N and Tesla Model 3 performance then? Considering how much more power they all make and their significantly higher price tags I am not so sure. I think it currently stands alone at it's price point, and good on MG for selling it. Whether it will sell is another story entirely though...

I've had the RWD MG4 for nearly a year and really enjoy the drive. The chassis and power delivery are really pretty impressive in comparison to previous hot hatches I've had. Even prefer it over my 300bhp Subaru it replaces. Don't think I would pay the extra for the Xpower but can't argure with the numbers. The whole MG4 range certainly puts some price pressure on competitors to sharpen their prices

1000% the most practical Miata review I’ve watched in the last week. Been binging the videos hard and this was such a breath of fresh air!!! Thank you for sparing us the boring spec sheet nonsense that people can find literal ANYWHERE. Strict focus on the JOY of this vehicle and it’s purpose. Brilliant idea to introduce ‘average’ people to the car to elicit genuine reactions to this cars unique character! Perfect video my friend. Kudos from Canada.

You can charge to 100% just fine. It means don’t do this every single day. Save it for when you need the full range, which for most people is more occasionally than a daily commute.

after driving 4 cyl Japanese cars my entire life, I got the 2004 SL500....omg, the smooth power of this car feels heavenly; everything about this car exudes tremendous quality, and yes it is a head turner. The car is now 20 years old but the styling is timeless art; I predict it will be deemed a collectible classic soon and, due to depreciation, a pretty nice bargain at today's prices. Thanks to consumer reports for their fanatical dislike of European cars, we can get these at tremendously depreciated prices so...take advantage, I say. My SL500 has 68k miles on it and runs better than new; I plan to maintain it till the cows come home; daily commute it with the top down; road trips to national parks thousands of miles away. Let the peons in traffic think I'm rich with me with the top down, and maybe I am; I certainly feel rich driving this undeniably upscale convertible thru town. If I wasn't already happily married, I't be picking up gold-diggers left and right by the university and have them buy me happy meals at the drive thru, among other delightful offerings.

The reviewer obviously is a BMW fan boy. Go and review M5 or M2. Who cares what you love more! You’re here reviewing a beast, a complete beast which I just purchased yesterday 2021 model in selenite grey. Shame on you for comparing it to M5 totally different cars. You’d rather compare it to a BMW X3M competition. It’s like driving a BMW X3M and comparing it to an AMG C63S. You’re not sounding smart at all….

In 2024 I've now driven maybe 20 different cars (it's a job thing). The loud blinkers are a feature not a bug when you drive on rough, loud Aussie tarmac, especially in the bush. And the horn is tuned for how you use a horn most of the time: For telling people to move off on a green light, or to stop backing out into you etc. It's a nice soft toot instead of a BEEEP! that instantly causes road rage. A little "PARP" doesn't make anyone angry. Someone thought about this horn. NGL I do miss air horns on sedans though. My dad's 1980 Falcon had an air horn. When we were 7-8, we thought it was the absolute best.

The car does not use the side skirt cameras for the 270 degree camera. That would be the ones in the mirrors. The side skirt cameras are for the side view. There's a dedicated button, above the park sensor button beside the gear lever, for that. It's a different option alltogether.

You can adjust the volume of the indicator in every other KGM model so I would expect you can in this too. It's a neat feature for those hard of hearing for sure. As for the screen - unfortunately, KGM have got issues like many brands with infotaintment - KGM particularly have crashing issues, black screens and memory issues where settings are forgotten. It's a pretty big problem for them and more annoying it's happening on the latest models. KGM have - for example - only just fixed a software issue that afflicted all Rexton and Musso models since 2021 whereby their centre screens would crash - sometimes constantly. They have only now in March 2024, sorted this issue out and are rolling out an update for existing owners. It's a real shame for them because I think they have some great models - Korean made (not Chinese as many people seemed to think given the now ditched 'Ssangyong' brand name). I've had a few, have the latest Rexton with the new interior - it's a great car!

Thanks for that detailed comment. Really great to hear from an owner and get some background on the screen / software issues. As you say, if they could sort that, pretty much everything else is hunky-dory. Cheers for watching. Blu.

Range and WLTP. As with everything it is all about what you do as 'routine'. NMC batteries are definitely best charged only to 80%; that is generally the quickest charge level to achieve. But when you do NEED the range (eg. for road-tripos, to reach a certain destination) it is quite OK to do this. Just make sure that this is not done ALL the time. Actually for the very best battery longevity you should just keep the charging to around 40%-70%. This will give you plenty of driving range for most day-to-day driving, around town for commuting and shopping.
