Excellent company and good choice! Yeah diff guard got tested for sure but it did what it’s supposed to do! From some other comments I received I think it’s good that it bent and absorbed the shock, not totally sure about how much of a beating the mounting points can take. I think a steel skid plate with no give may not be a great idea for these vehicles.

👍. So I got the iron lift just waiting to install and then I’ll be getting the same tire set up like you 😅 look amazing! What shop did your adjustment to clear your tires if you don’t mind sharing.

@@fernandobarragan3985 that’s awesome! Definitely the top three mods to do!! I went to Rallitek for the tires and they cleared them for me. My suggestion is immediately drive over a lot of bumps, really crank the wheel when going forward or back. Check that it’s good before leaving in case they need to do more. Also, realize it may take a couple tries to get it right! Especially if you load it up you’ll discover new areas that rub the first time.

Will be looking to go and check out the lakes and trails you post I’m from Yakima and when I went to do the durr road trail got close to half way and got really sketchy at it had just rained a lot and I was sliding off the trail 😅 nasty mudd. But was fun will try when it’s much drier 😅

@@fernandobarragan3985 that’s awesome you got out there and tried it! Mud definitely makes things way more difficult! I’m still working on full length video of that trip. I’m doing a lot of historical research to include on origins of that road and Jacob Durr who actually died under some what mysterious circumstances after two failed business ventures: first with a toll bridge he made, then with Durr road. The first wagon that attempted Durr road got stuck overnight in mud. They had to go find Jacob Durr and his men and they were able to get the wagon out. People getting stuck in the mud up there goes back 140+ years. 😂

Just picked up a Forester Wilderness in the Geyser Blue. Loving it. Have also been eyeballing the Falken Wildpeaks in either 235 or 245. Don’t have plans to lift for a little while, but it definitely needs a meatier tire. Any issues with rub on the 245s? Or is yours lifted with the Ironman here?

Congratulations! It’s truly a great rig and really capable. And you can’t go wrong with the geyser blue!! With a lift 245s will give minor rubbing with minor work on fender liner. Can’t totally say what the rubbing would be without a lift. If you think you will lift it at some point don’t waste money on 235s. They will be too small with the lift in my opinion and definitely not as meaty for off-roading. With a 245 you’re getting closer to a 30” diameter tire which is a lot more respectable on the trail (29.5”). If you think you’ll never lift at least in the next 50k miles go with the 235s!

Do you ever wish you had the extra hp and torque of the outback. I’m trying to decide between the two.

It would be nice for sure but it came down to approach, departure, breakover angles for me for off-roading capability. The Forester can be built out to be more functional in this way and has more potential in my opinion than the Outback for off-road use. Better fuel economy with forester wilderness of course too. I have not had real world issues with lack of torque or horsepower with my car even with bigger tires. But I’m sure the outback wilderness is definitely more fun to drive on paved roads!
