Are you running Wheel Spacers with those TRD Off Road rims? I am wanting to go with the Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 LT285/75R17 and wanted to know if the Wheel Spacers would be needed to clear the spindles and UCA.

Great question! I just upgraded to 285/75/17s Falken Wildpeaks. Which would be about the same size. Every set up will be a little bit different but counterintuitively spacers and/or positive offset wheels will actually make rubbing worse. The tire ends up being out more which makes it actually swing wider inwards as well. You want zero offset, no spacers, and a body mount chop and high clearance cut as well as some trimming of plastic and mud flap delete to make that tire size fit.

@@wildernessnorthwest9604 Thanks for the reply! I've got the 0 offset TRD Offroad Rims on my '21 Limited. and I love that it doesn't increase the scrub radius. Since i'm pretty close to the UCA and Spindle with my 275/70R17s I was concerned that just that little bit wider with the 285/75R17 might rub a bit. I think you've got a really dialed in setup!

I heard you are moving to Nebraska, will your moniker change to Wilderness Mid-West? Asking for a friend.

Given that there’s no wilderness there probably not. I might have to change it to Storm Chaser Midwest, and exclusively do tornado footage 😅

Dude... Ima really going to have to take issue with you. I had done an excellent job talking myself out of the Wilderness Trim level. I was prepared to go with a base model or a Premium. But your videos.... they've captured my brainstem. I simply must have one. And it's all your fault. LOL ;)

Awesome video. Love the history you tied in to it as well. That’s some stunning country there. Are you running the Ironman 2” lift here? Also, love the skids and a good thing you had them.

Thanks for watching and for your comment. Appreciate it. Amazing country out that way. Yes, I had the 245 Wildpeak tires and the 2” lift. It’s a great combination and will get you 90% of where you want to go. The skid plates are cheap insurance for sure!

Just picked up a Forester Wilderness in the Geyser Blue. Loving it. Have also been eyeballing the Falken Wildpeaks in either 235 or 245. Don’t have plans to lift for a little while, but it definitely needs a meatier tire. Any issues with rub on the 245s? Or is yours lifted with the Ironman here?

I’m curious on something, Subaru has new headlights technology, it’s called the SHR(steering Response Headlights). Does giving it a 1inch/2inch lift effect it in anyway or form? I am not necessarily comfortable blinding people as I work graveyard. Thanks for any response.

What psi do you air down to?
@wildernessnorthwest9604

I never did air down as I didn’t have a compressor at the time. But I’ve heard 15 to 20 psi is good and about as low as you want to go with these tires/wheels.

My wife’s 23 Forester has a 1-2” lift with 245s. Coming from a stock 17 Outback. My first time driving it(2nd time riding in it) was down a fairly rough(24” washouts) mile long road to a waterfall. As a competent enough driver I wasn’t too worried. The tires rubbed against the wheel well medium-hard a few times. I kept thinking, “you should’ve looked at the approach angle and clearance, dumbass.” Well, after reaching the bottom, indeed I should have. It’s a miracle I didn’t scratch the bumper. The nose on the 2023 Forester is TWICE as long as it should be. To Subaru- Very disappointed, gentlemen. Very disappointed.

I just did Durr yesterday and was wondering about the history. This was perfect. A few small suggestions to take it to the next level: - map: have a line with the route you followed - audio: level across the different sources (video, recording, etc) - story: for your drive tell us about the purpose and where you are in that journey periodically Great work - different than all the other offroad channels out there. I see a genuine niche with the historical lens.
