Super helpful thank you. Very similar for a 2017 outback, but for anyone wondering there is little finger pulls either side of the clips under the seat. Use your index and thumb on the clip and pull forward to release and it allows you to lift seat up.

Thank you very, very much Dave. I had a lot of water under the carpet as a result of a blocked air conditioner drain tube. Your video helped me get the rear carpet underlay out to dry it in the sun. Thanks again.

This video keeps on giving. Thank you for it! Had a seatbelt stuck under one of those side cushions by accident from the mechanic, and the bolt was hiding under the seat to eventually free it. This took the guesswork out!

Thanks alot for the video :) The FSM doesn't describe this well enough, and I am always afraid of breaking something. I am working on removing the driverside seat belt, it has become stuck, will not release. And, I have found evidence of a mouse living under the seat. It had hollowed out a little of the seat cushion material and made itself a small nest. But luckily the new car mouse was discovered as it had fallen asleep in a blanket that was in the car. This blanket was removed from the car and taken to a yoga class. There the mouse was discovered as the blanket was unrolled, causing shock and awe :) With a few springing into action to capture the poor frightened mouse.

That just saved me a whole bunch of time. Mine were tight enough that I used a prybar.

I’m tricking out my 2008 Subaru Outback to use for camping. If I remove the back seats, and fold down the seat backs, what would that look like? Would I gain any vertical space or obtain any other advantage for my purposes? Thanks in advance for any thoughts or comments.

I’m wondering the same. Did it work for sleeping level back there ?
@eugeneflynn7435 Жыл бұрын
@@deborahsnow304 So I went the way of least work with maximum flexibility and comfort. Note that I’m traveling solo, so I can make due with a single bed. I did not remove any seats, I merely folded the seat backs all the way down, removing the adjustable head rests. The passenger side is wider (2 seats fold down as one). In my Subaru, this creates an uneven surface with about a 3” rise where the seats are folded down compared to the rear of the vehicle. My solution was to cut a piece of sturdy plywood to fit, moving the front passenger seat all the way to the front to provide maximum length for the bed. To address the difference in height, I used 2 pieces of 2” x 3” x 30” wood to serve as the platform for the plywood. I placed these like a couple of parallel rails, and the bed rests on top. Doing so made that sleeping surface perfectly flat. From Amazon I bought a JINGWEI Folding Mattress, Tri-fold Memory Foam Mattress, 4-Inch thick, 25” x 75”, Small Twin Size. It fits that side of the Subaru perfectly. The 3” elevation in the back gives me a little cubby space where I could slide in a small folding table and small camp stool. The narrow side of the wagon is where I place one or two plastic totes, and other boxes or bags as needed for clothes, toiletries, food, etc. It’s a bit tight getting in and out, but I manage and once I’m bedded it’s as comfortable a sleeping space as I could ask for. Hope this helps. Happy to respond to any other questions.

I'm wondering if this video will apply to a 2009 Forester. I'm assuming it'll be much the same?

Can the back seats on the 2006 legacy's fold down or not?

I think the fuel pump is under the cover on the left hatch. Note: If I am right, you are opening the gas tank. This allows you to install a new fuel pump. Disconnect Battery before doing that job. I recoomend following a manual like Chiltons

Hold up! If you have a rear seat center drink console you will have to open the drink shelf and remove the rubber pad and remove four bolts to get the seat out

Thanks, very helpful. I tried pulling upward on my 2011 Subaru Outback and it won't pop up, though. :( I don't want to break anything. I pulled upward with both hands. It doesn't really budge.
@c.davidgraves48486 жыл бұрын
This video applies to Subaru Outback model years 2005-2009. In 2010, there was a major re-design. Possibly your 2011 seat works in a different way.
@wr999en6 жыл бұрын
@@c.davidgraves4848 . I figured it out. It's just in there really firmly and wouldn't budge upward without some extra force. A guy told me to pry it up with something and that nothing would break. I used a thick wood stake and put it between the seat and the lower part that it was attached to and I was able to pry the seat up on each side, using the wooden stake as a lever. Phew. Thanks though.

Thank you, anybody know if is the same for 1999 model ? thanks again.
@danc83556 жыл бұрын
1999 will have two bolts to remove, instead of just pulling up. They are easy enough to see, on the front side just under the cushion. Then, it lifts up and un-hooks from the seatback like here.
