Awesome, I've been driving my 2005 Subaru Outback for three years with window stuck in up position, now a $20 replacement motor from Ebay AND your how-to video video and I'm back in business! Thanks!

Thanks for the video. I repaired the motor and switch and now it works beautifully! The motor was not burned out as such, the brushes were worn down so I simply bent them inwards and put fresh grease on the bearings and all the sliding parts of the mechanism. The switch was not self centring anymore so I made up a small nylon pin to replace the broken bit. The actual switch pops off with a small flat screwdriver. Saved myself hundreds of dollars even for second hand replacements. Thanks again.

Thanks for this video!!! I had some difficulty reinstalling the new mechanism. I would recommend to follow the directions on the video as far as which bolts and nuts to install first during reassembly. I should have watched the video again during reassembly. I saved about $300 over local dealer's cost to complete this job. Dealer charges 2x the cost of new aftermarket motor and charges for diagnosis and additional labor..

I changed my window regulator in my 2011 Legacy. Much easier, watched video on youtube. Yours is also a great video. It saved me about $200.00 doing it myself. Thanks for the video.

Dude I have this exact problem. Driver's side button broke in the exact same way and eventually burned out the motor. I should have replaced that right away because it was way cheaper and easier than this. But I babied that button along for months until I took it into the shop for a different issue and they must have hit the button by accident and left it up. I guess I'll need to try this. Thanks!

A little fiddly to get the thing out and back in, and get the window back in the guide, but it’s not too bad. Hope this helps, good luck!

I changed my regulator on Subaru Legacy the only thing that happen was that once u go all the way up it doesn’t close but it’s just a little part that doesn’t go up idk if I didn’t adjust the window like I supposed too and I brought too close to the inside u know what I mean😅

Do you have to redo the whole mechanism or can you do just the motor?
@themotofirm3 жыл бұрын
You could probably do just the motor if the mechanism is moving freely, assuming it’s not a permanent assembly. I just got the whole thing out of pick n pull and swapped it.

Well shit… new switch and new motor still nothing

Shit indeed...seems like wiring or a fuse is the culprit. Time to clean/check connections.
