If you had a multi tool you could shave an hour off trimming the factory plastic bumper. I was thinking in the beginning this is a how not to install video....I love that you kept it real and left your issues with what our issues could be, nice job. If your shackle is still too loose and bothers you, cut some rubber washer spacers out of some old floor matts or a rubber matt or mud guard you can get at home center, should quite that rattle and still let it articulate. Good job.

I hardly ever comment, normally lurk and consume - but I referenced this video heavily when working on my '24 outback wilderness. Very well done - some things that caught me off guard: - Pay extra attention to the template for the fascia, I had spent a long time aligning it and everything seemed good, but after I cut it, I cut too much on one side (ultimately didn't affect anything) - When marking holes for bottom of fascia panel, do one side - push the pins in, then do the other side (with the bumper on the car). I did it all in one go and go figure I have a tiny tiny gap on the bottom quarter of one side, nbd. Other than that, not that difficult, I hung my mufflers instead of taking them off, didn't have any problems with accessing the nuts/bolts and I have large hands!

Finished mine a little while ago, I'm sure glad you mentioned the template dimensions in your video, mine printed the same way, measured 1" but was too small, imo, Subaru could have included a template in the kit, everything else went smoothly, just a lot of dang work to install a hitch, but it's done now and I can sleep knowing it was done right (without scratches too). What is the measurement to the top of the inside square from the ground? On etrailers and uhaul the hardware they have is about 15-16" on a non obw and depending on hardware kit. So I'm just seeing if the extra ground clearance is worth the cost and time to cut out the bumper. I have an obw on 245/65/17 toyos. So it might be a bit apples to oranges.

Great video- unfortunately I don’t have any tools or space to do this myself. My new wilderness will arrive from the dealership sometime in the next four weeks. In regards to the OEM hitch, fascia plate and also the two skid plates; would it be wise to have the dealership or speciality service shop make these mods? Wish I could hire you! Lol- but I’m in South Carolina. 😂 Also, I assume the front two shackles are attached by taking off the removable tow hook plate. If so, did you have to purchase additional tow hooks to screw into the front? Much appreciated and keep up the great work on the channel.

Well, I think you can still order them and it will be wise to have the dealer install them so that it will be under warranty if anything happens or they mess up. And I only had to buy one more of the tow hooks since the car comes with one already. Can't wait for you to get your OBW!! How exciting 😀

Good review. I just did a hidden hitch install on my friends BMW X5 and had to cut the fascia using a dermal cutoff. It worked really well and the project turned out great. Based on that and your video I am confident in doing this with my OBW that I am supposed to pick up in a week or so (once the SOS button issue is resolved) . Thanks again for a video showing the situation people really run into like no template include, scale of template questions etc. These snags happen and seeing how you resolved them is very helpful. Last comment. Where did you source the CF tow hitch covers? Are they real cc or just vinyl overlays? Regardless I like that look and my car is crystal black silica and I like the idea of blacking out all of copper trim items.

would you pay someone like 200 bucks for all of these to save 5 hours?
@ChasingAdventuresCO8 ай бұрын
haha, it would cost more than 200 bucks but regardless, I would do it again if I had to.

What are your accent covers?

Accent cover? Sorry Daniel, I didn't understand your question.

@@ChasingAdventuresCO It looks like you blacked out the copper colored accents. Where the tow hook goes. Again,thanks for the engine guard and diff cover video. I cancelled the order for the engine one,as if they could get it anyway,and the rear diff guard. That is too much ground clearance to lose. Ebay here I come.

lots of work. makes the high price the dealer wants seem kind of worth it.

It is a lot of work but is very satisfying knowing you did it. 😌

Literally made me break off my rear bumper reflector trying to remove it . Turns out the light didn’t even need to be removed. It’s okay I guess I can upgrade it to smoked or something. Definitely lost some brownie points on that one

Did you skip through the video? Because I did mention you don't need to take off the reflector..
@joshuarivera36177 ай бұрын
@@ChasingAdventuresCO nope. Watched the video and was following along . I should have skipped around. It’s fine I just bought a replacement and watched another installation video
