When checking valve lash, always have the cam lobes pointing up.. 2 lobes pointing up and 2 lobes at a 90* angle is not the same. When you check the clearance on 2 lobes pointing up you need to rotate the cam so the other 2 lobes that were at 90* are also pointing up, this way you are checking the base circle and nothing else.. When the can lobes are rotated and not pointing straight up there may be more pressure on the buckets and this is why you have a tighter reading on 2 of the cam lobes that are pointing 90* vs straight up..

Very nice job. Those ARP studs are the best thing I ever purchased for my EJ25

These are great quality videos. I'll be using them in my build soon

Thanks for the video. I'm rebuilding my engine now and they are very helpful. At 9:03, you will notice the RTV is on the wrong side of the hole on the exhaust side. I hope it sealed enough that you don't have a leak.

Just noticed, luckly for me its not leaking, thanks!

7:48 a workout? Imagine 32 head studs at over 180ftlbs on my duramax lol. In the engine bay too, I was spent lol. I know what you mean hehe

Hi did you follow a manual to rebuild the engine? If you did, which one is it? Thanks

Great videos I have to rebuild my ej25 here soon and your videos are so straight forward Where did u get all your gaskets and seals??

Thank you! Just look for a set from Aisin, its a japanese company, try amazon. Mine was original subaru but I cant remember if I found it on ebay or amazon for about 250. If you look up aisin timing kit for example, those are same exact pulleys, belt, water pump as factory.

So I’m using my old arp head studs on my new block, what if I don’t have the assembly lube, what else can I use?

With new cams and buckets 🪣, would the lash be perfect or require work to the buckets?
@cruizinmax40172 жыл бұрын
You replace the buckets with right measurement but need to measure the lash first and figure out which bucket you need.

@@cruizinmax4017 sorry u have given south already but if I disassemble my heads buy new cylinder heads, cams and buckets I would need to check the lash but then how do I adjust the lash? Thank u :)

May I ask the title and artist of the music you chose?

no idea, i would have to go through the long list of youtube songs and find it.

Im guessing those are ARP2000 studs as the final torque is only 90 ft/lb vs 100Ft/lb for 625 studs.

90 is alot

is it okay if the cam is slightly stiff when you move it by hand or should it move very freely
@cruizinmax40172 жыл бұрын
if its not under load from valve springs then it should be very easy to turn it.
@oldfashionedwrx35742 жыл бұрын
@@cruizinmax4017 most i can turn fine, very easily by hand, one i can turn by hand but its slightly stiffer would that be an issue. Nice videos btw
@cruizinmax40172 жыл бұрын
Might be an issue, i would take it all apart and redo it.

@@cruizinmax4017 i did, retorqued it, did the timing, was slightly stiff but still okay and smooth to spin. timing spun very easily. engine is in the car, i cranked it with just starter on and hit 80 psi oil pressure

What happens if you dont check clearances?
@cruizinmax40172 жыл бұрын
if off correct measurement then valves, cams even engine may go bad if not caught in time. Also low compression or misfire.

It is also a lot easier to do when the engine is out of the car. It's better to do things one time instead of five times

What about 90 degrees turn on all the bolts at the end?
@cruizinmax40174 жыл бұрын
no need for that, instructions say to torque only.
@dadeftones72 жыл бұрын
If Subaru used these head studs instead of their head studs Subaru would have never had a head gasket failure issue the reason the head gasket fails is because the studs are not properly and evenly torqued like they are with the ARP head studs. Subaru studs make you do all kinds of Mickey mouse angle turns
