Seems I'm the only one wants to fix my Forester. Took it to the shop and when they found oil in the plug said they have to test all this stuff and tear the engine down. I just brought it back home and going to try this.

Not sure if you’re still answering but if we just replaced spark plugs and had one that looked absolutely drenched in oil, but still went and replaced all the plugs would it cause misfires and stalling?

I have this issue currently on my subaru, 195000 miles, at least i think that's the issue. It's hard to figure out if that's the issue or if it's piston rings going out, can anyone give me hope or tell me the bad news??

So I had p0420 low catalyst efficiency code, then fixed the exhaust and it went away, the p0302 and p0304 cylinder 2 and 4 misfire codes came on so I changed the coil pack (my mistake by doing this first), then changed spark plugs (2 was covered in oil and 4 had some too but all were rusted and two were seize in there and had to use wd40 and let it soak to get them out), then after cleaning and replacing spark plugs it drove fine no issue or misfires for a mile or so then the light came back on and now only p0302 (cylinder 2 code) is on which is the one that had the most oil on/in it. Should I still replace the wires or should I start with the head gasket and spark plug boots and do the after if need be?

How much oil consumption can this cause?

Thanks for the video… My mother-in-law had head gasket replaced on 09 Subaru legacy 2.5 non turbo back in March 2018 with only 60,000 miles. Today I was going to change the wires and plugs(67,000) first plug wire I pulled out exactly what you showed soaked with oil, put my spark plug socket into the hole pulled it out dripping with oil!! I’m pissed to say the least. What can I do? How long are they usually warranty? It’s been16 months and 7,000 miles . She bought the car brand new in 09 from Subaru, Subaru did all service. The stack of papers she has on service is probably 2 inches tall.. whatever they told her she need it she pretty much did( 74 yrs old ) so it’s not like it was beat on.

The warranty just depends. Pretty standard is 12 months or 12,000 miles, but some shops go all the way up to 36 months or 36,000 miles. You would just have to ask the shop at which the work was done. I know for sure if those head gaskets were done then they definitely should have replaced the valve cover gaskets as well.

How much should I expect to pay to have the cylinder head and spark gasket kit installed?
@wesleyhuelskamp56925 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about the valve cover gaskets then the labor for a 2003 subaru with a 2.5L engine is 1.5 hrs. You can expect a shop to charge for diagnosis time, so we'll just say 2.5 hrs. The gasket set is about $60 give or take, so maybe $300-$400? It would depend on what the shops labor rate is.

Hey my 2003 2.5x runs normal although, only when I Rev it at high rpms it cuts out and slowly picks up speed usually on steep hills. Is this normal?

I'm guessing it's a misfire from ignition wires being under load
