2010 Subaru Impreza 2.5L water pump replacement. Subaru water pumps tend to last quite a long time. This water pump was replaced out of due diligence while replacing the timing belt. If your Subaru is over heating, check the head gasket. Subaru is well known for their head gasket failures. Although it may not be leaking, a bad head gasket may cause the vehicle to overheat.

I had a 1995 legacy. I pulled the engine and worked from a engine stand. This jobs not too bad. Requires a little patience and attention to torque specs. Excellent video

I was able to remove my radiator and cooling fans assembled as a unit by removing the 3 brackets on top. Very easy to do.

Important tip to prevent breaking bolts try running them down first make them move a little and then back them out. Once you've broken the corrosion Bond Siri emphasis on just make it move can you probably never break a bolt again

Great detail and explanation! Umm check you information on bolt grades… us grade 8 is very close to metic 10.9. Threads are metric though so that probably the confusion. It’s not (“grade”10 stronger than grade 8) Cheers! I’m literally going to change this water pump today!👍🏽😁

Just out of curiosity my 2004 STI has two hose connectors coming off the water pump, one I assume goes to heater bypass, do you know what the other goes to?

Did you use a sealer for the pump when you installed it? I did last time. Have to do it again cause I used blue devil for my gasket leak it works but yea

My Subaru starts leaking above the thermostat housing, so I think it's the water pump, Could I change just the water pump for now? It's a little expensive parts in Mexico.

I found out there are 2 small holes on each side of the bell housing to insert a screwdriver and rotate crank till they go into the fly wheel THEN you can loosen crank bolt no problemo... had subarus for 35 years and did not know that

Thermostat yes. It's where the bottom hose runs from the radiator under the engine. The water pump you need to remove the radiator fans.

Great Video...but cautionary tale as well! Likely a $2000 Job at least for anyone to do this "water pump" job, where you end up replacing timing belt, ac belt, all hoses, tensioners, thermostat, water pump....gaskets...and remove whole front of engine - DO NOT BUY THIS CAR is my Lesson Learned!

@@lovetrump1088 i get all these parts from subarus supplier for 230. Its aisin brand online. A mechanic is a scammer if they charge for more than 3 to 4 hours of labor for this job.

@@adamdistortion8810 If you just do the Water pump, yes - all the ONLINE Quotes are saying shops will do that for job for $600. But it's always harder to find a shop to do it for what they say online too. And even though that is the quoted price online, this guy wants to do all the missed preventative maintenance you've missed along the years, along with the water pump. But yes we agree the WP cost is $600...but that $600 is the Starting Point, not the full price. Noting quotes for the Timing Chain Replacement - are also coming in about $600...right? So that is close $1200/maybe $1000 (with a $200 discount as they already have the front of the engine removed). Then we got all new Hoses ($50 just for parts), a new Tensioners($30-50), Thermostat (35 for part alone) other Misc parts + the labor + Mark up on Parts....you will never get it done for $600! Myself, I don't see how you wouldn't be out at least $1500 before you got out of there. I still think I got it pretty close at $2K.

What all this about..its too hard ,That much job for only changing a water pump.. what a silly engineering importing chaineez/korian cheep compacts engines n fittings, Oh problem.. problem. My advice never ever by cars not made in it's original country. All orignal Japanese engines n fittings are... Asco, Amco, Akebono,Nipondenso, Mitsuba.Hitachi, NDC, RIK, Mountain, Mitsubishi, NSK, NTN, Nachi..and all engines n parts are must be made in Japan Please open the hood n look at engine if other brand none of the above brand there then you have been cheeted.. it's a duplicate subaru car
