Sharp looking car, the black grille and wheels does this body style well. Excellent production quality for the video as well!

I do like the red with black trim, surprisingly!. I loved my STi but it wasn't the quickest car in the 2 - 2.4 litre category which of course a WRX should be or be there and abouts. They're more of a sporty cruiser or GT. Around corners and the twisty bits it was a very hard car to catch. Exciting, surefooted and well engineered but imo desperately needs re-purposing. It's time for a new more refined shape and will be interesting to see what comes re electric or hybrid powerplant Thanks for another well informed and interesting review 👍

Thanks Paul. You’re right - 6-and-a-bit secs to 100 is not particularly brisk these days but the redeeming factor for the Rex was always how it could maintain high corner speeds with confidence. It certainly feels very analogue (which I like) but man, that Clean Car fee is punishing isn’t it! Cheers for watching.

What is your opinion with regards to the difference in ride and handling between the premium manual WRX with the passive dampers vs the tS spec with active damping?
@CarNutvideos Жыл бұрын
Good question. As far as I can recall from my drive in the tS at the launch, the active dampers offer a discernibly softer ride in their softest setting and then harden up to a maximum stiffness that matches the setting that the non-active suspension has. I don’t think the active dampers go beyond the standard dampers in terms of stiffness, they seem more about bringing in compliance to what is otherwise a permanently firm ride. The standard suspension seemed to suit a manual sedan whereas the active suspension felt more at home in the generally softer WRX wagon. For me personally a 3rd pedal in the sedan would take preference over active dampers on a Rex. Cheers for the question and the watch. Blu.

What on Earth are Subaru thinking? CVT. Yuk. A WRX that's an auto cvt. It's like a Prius a V8. It's the wrong thing for the car and the people who use them. Hey, what would you have over a 2014 BMW M135i and a 2015 Golf R? Just like the ones you drove. ZF8 vs DSG boxes. Cos I can't find a manual. Would you say the ZF* is as fast shifting as the DSG? I am going to buy one of the two asap. Cheers heaps.

Perfect question for me re: the M135i vs the Golf R… I own a M135i and I love it. Considered the Golf but for me, the lively RWD chassis of the BMW is unbeatable. Also, that ZF gearbox is a delight (even at low speed maneuvering when ALL dual clutch boxes shudder, shake and hesitate.) And, when you’re in a hurry, the 8-speed ZF changes as fast as you can. Go the M135i. You won’t regret it. Cheers for watching. 👍
