As a 34 year old with kids, I appreciate that the gt wrx exists. I had a 2019 wrx with the manual and it was lots of fun. My knees hurt too bad now to want to daily a manual, so having the option of an auto is nice. When I decide on my next car, this one is at the top of my list.

Dude welcome back! Been an extra hot minute. I sold my '21 VA WRX when used car prices were still crazy and got $2500 more than I paid for it. Rolled into a '23 Premium VB WRX manual and love it as my daily. I have had the EJ205, EJ257, FA20, and now FA24 and the FA24 is my favorite engine by far. The VB WRX is really the grown-up WRX. They can't make a WRX for $20-$25K anymore so this just makes sense and 40+ year-olds like me who started with an '05 WRX can afford to pay $30K+ for a VB. But, I am sticking with the manual and I drive in traffic 3 days a week. I love it even in bumper-to-bumper traffic as keeps me more engaged.

Not a fan of the styling like many people. Still I wave to the VB and they wave back to me which is nice. I think in orange and blue they look the best. Black also looks fantastic. Could care less about the plastic cladding, it's those mousey-looking headlights that I really don't like. How many miles did you put on your previous CVT? I would like to keep mine for as long as possible, past 100,000 miles. I'm not in the facebook group so any reassurance these things last would make me feel a lot better. For the record I wanted a manual but needed to be more practical. So I drive it like I wanted a manual but needed to be more practical...

I like your camera setup, cockpit, frontview, first person, etc. I must say that type of transmission makes the car fly in the highway, and gives better fuel economy, vs geared/clutch drivetrain. Good job and welcome back. I am more of a DSG (Audi/VW) driver. *I would paint black the silver trim around the exhaust tips, imo, it is too pronounced.

Do you still have your STI? I bought a brand new 22 GT last year that got totalled a day after I purchased it. I loved that car for the super brief time I had it. I agree with your perspective on the car, I had a 2016 with a cvt and hated it so much that I traded it in after 30k miles for a manual 2015 limited trim and I was happy with that for 85k miles until I got bored of driving it around southeast Florida, there’s not many fun backroads to drive on there.

Great car. Nice color. I would take the auto too. I had a fully built 2002 hatchback, at one point making 374HP and similar torque. It was a huge pain to drive around LA w the 5 speed and clutching it all the time. Burning out the clutch and also my legs and butt had all sorts of pain at times. Sure it was fun on open roads and in the mtns, but full time proved clearly to me that I will never do that again in a city. Now I am back in NY and dip into the city.

Stage 1 with most parts for chassis stiffening Definitely drives the way I like it if I were to take it to the track. Checks my list for a fun car People need to understand that Subie CVT really is different I drove a Nissan versa as a rental I you can really tell a difference Sure it’s still a cvt but if your not looking into doing crazy mods then cvt is an option Of course manual will still be king on driver engagement and what you can do power wise But let be honest not everyone has the $ or wants to go FBO. I owned the MT first year VB, own a 2020 STI now. Audio was amazing, drive was comfy but floaty especially on highways. I didn't like the driving position, I'm only 5'5" and had the seat in the lowest position, but still felt like I was sitting on the car rather than in (especially compared to VA STI). The global platform is quite noticeable unfortunately. Otherwise, the immediate low end torque is nice and great for daily experience.

@@akqjtn I had the Canadian MT top trim, didn't come with dampering/Recaro seats, but had HK audio at least. Those were GT features (I think it's the same for the US). The other main complaint is the terrible infotainment, if you think it's sluggish now try using it in -30C weather... takes 10 seconds to adjust heated seats/climate in general because it's so slow to respond to touches. I do miss seeing oil/water temps without needing an AP though.
@akqjtn10 ай бұрын

Just go with how everyone else is doing it with a wide tablet up top for car play / android auto and leave the bottom half for real buttons for climate control. The manual guys will always hate on us but I'm 100% positive it's because they haven't tried Sport+ mode. The thing is though, if you spend a bit more money you could get a Golf R DCT which completely smokes this car as we already lose to a GTI DCT lol.
