I need that side exit exhaust :X ..... Awesome vid! idk if you would care for constructive criticism on your driving (I know its a new car and track and you're basically narrating your laps lol) but I noticed 2 things. You could carry soo much more speed through 90 percent of those corners. If the car isn't tracking itself out to the exit curb at the limit of grip from its inertia, then you could easily carry more speed. Also it seems like you start braking very early on a lot of the corners, and seem to over slow. As a general rule of thumb if you get on the gas before the apex you slowed down too much. I don't really know your background in driving so I'm sorry if this is obvious to you and you were just being a bit more conservative on track. thanks for making the video!

Kyle Antonowich thanks for the constructive criticism! You are completely right about all of it. Just a few pieces of info that aren't in the video that would attribute to your concerns. Mainly, the narrated session was only my 3rd session on that track and in that car. The audio was only supposed to be a test for mic placement and practice for me on my talk through that we wanted to do on day two after feeling everything out. Unfortunately because of the issues with the car we had, I was unable to do that final narration as the car ended up in limp mode as seen in the video. The braking is another story and if you were in the car, you'd have been braking that early too! Since we were in a rush building the car for SEMA, the off the shelf pads were still installed and they are NOT fit for track duty. In 4 sessions they were completely worn through to the backing plate. Kevin should have footage of the dust left behind. Morale of the story is new car with lots of hiccups that we need to work through. I'm no professional and I am not even quick in the amateur world but I do have over 10 years of performance driving experience, have been signed off for NASA TT competition, NASA HPDE instruction, and SCCA instruction.

Of course! I honestly figured that you had some solid experience driving. it takes a lot of concentration to speak while driving at any kind of quick pace haha. I can totally understand the braking issues lol, I commented before I saw the part where you turned the pads to dust so my bad for not realizing that. Either way im excited to keep up with what you guys do with this chassis. There aren't a whole lot of people racing or doing Time Trials in these cars yet and I want to see what I can do to push the chassis as well. Turbo is a Precision Turbo PT5682 ball bearing rated up to 550hp. Stock internals currently and running full e85, which is part of our problem!

you really need to learn how to downshift. You continually loaded up at low RPM when you could have easily been shifted and that puts a lot of stress on the engine and drivetrain

At least 10 seconds on table to improve just by "learning to drive" . Driving lines are mostly an mess, and braking at least 100 to 150 yards too early. Carrying 10 to 20+ mph too little speed tru most of the turns on track. Shame, seems like an decent time attack car , but driver lacks quit an bit. Little girls cohonas , down there. ... Tho if car has brake issues, you cant count on it, and hence cannot push it to the limit. Maby you have fuel vapour issues. Fuel lines going too close to turbo or exhaust. Basicly having vapourised fuel in lines, instead of cool liquid. It fcks up ecu, injectors, and nothing works. Some use pre cooled fuel, some carry ice or dry ice around fuel cell to avoid that issue. Hope you can find the cure for it.

Awesome build and great video! I actually live in Ankeny right now working for Deere but I have quite a bit of racing experience. Done 4 endurance races with ChumpCar and AER in my cousin's k24 swapped prelude. Also have countless track days and autocrosses in my '86 RX7 I've built as well. Would you guys possibly need an extra hand around the shop or anything? I'm really interested in getting involved with Time Attack and have a fair amount of experience working on and tuning my RX7 but not sure I will be able to build my FC for full competition just yet. You're braking super early and coasting a lot. You can lower your times by getting a bit braver before your turns.

Yo, you guys consider the STi as a Time Attack car? Just wondering why you guys are choosing to go with the FA over the EJ when the weakness of the EJ are understood? I enjoyed this video and wish you guys luck next year.

That is exactly why we went with the FA engine. The EJ has already been done, the weaknesses addressed, and limits tested. I am sure that the EJ can be pushed more, but the FA needs to be developed and we want to be the ones to do that development. We want to find the issues and come up with solutions because we want to give those solutions to our clients. Down the line, the STI will also have an FA engine and when it comes to the US, we will be ready for it. No fun in doing something that has already been done. Thank you for watching!

Nice video guys! Those headlights.... When you guys start selling them in 2017.. Will they have the OEM brightness "C" lights or will they have brighter ones (I have the prolightz C lights now and loves them. I would get these lights but not if OEM "C" lights come with it) ? Would be a shame for such nice headlights to come with OEM brightness "C" lights.

We will follow up with a video at some point. To answer your question, it is high ethanol content not playing well with the high pressure fuel pump for the DIT system. Most likely, we will have to run an ethanol mix with a flex fuel sensor next time out until an aftermarket HPFP is developed.

I hope you develop or someone develops an aftermarket HPFP! It's hard to justify the expense to tune and buy the flex fuel when you can not run full e85.

Clayton Binder on their website says sometime next year. I'd imagine those will be more than the tr tail lights or whatever those are called. I think even says they are single bulb hi and low function. and they were doing a poll on whether customers wanted to keep the red in the housing, remove it, or color match.

Sorry we don't have a video, what we meant is the STI has been used in many road racing and drag racing applications with the EJ series motor. Since development on that engine has been covered pretty well, we decided to go with the FA motor as it is the future of the Subaru line-up.
