These guys were the real deal. The were great, but they were on the verge of such incredible greatness and were getting ready to explode. It is sad that Bradley died, who knows how big it would've become. They were the epitome of the entire old so-cal feel, beach, bud, music, attitude, waves, surf, boarding, skating, reggae, punk, anti-system, anti-establishment, beach bum, bad boy not giving a shit band. Except they really had the talent, sound, spirit, soul, look , feel and it factor going for them all the way...................damn I could go on.

Sublime would have been extremely successful and active going into the late 90’s and early aughts. Sublime would have been been similar to No Doubt in mainstream popularity. I could see Sublime playing at Woodstock ‘99. Gwen Stefanie and Bradley were close friends so it’s well within reason to believe they would have worked together on each others albums often as close musicians do and maybe even when she went solo she probably would have wanted Bradley to produce a track or contribute vocals on certain songs. When you remove a death from the equation and add maturity - even the most mysterious and alluring high profile individuals who met tragic endings would eventually experience enough danger in life and the success they receive would eventually calm them down. Bradley Nowell was a great musician - even when people try to skewer Sublime as a glorified cover band etc. There is no denying that they created special music together and have a great recognizable sound.

Brad had talent oozing out of him. He could play so sloppy, but every note had passion and brilliance. It was like the music flowed through him when he performed and he was there to channel it.
@dathorndike49083 жыл бұрын
Great footage here. When I see Sublime play it reminds me of Nirvana and early Guns ' N Roses for the fact that when they played live there was an element of danger there like they could just fall apart at any moment. But at the same time you when you could be witnessing a performance that could change your life.

@tmart2005 just ran across this. Not many, it was an odd place for a show really, it was in the small parking lot of a stand alone surf shop right on A1A which if youre not familiar with it is a well known road that runs parallel to the Atlantic ocean. Dont go beachside often these days but last I knew it changed owners and is now called "the goods" in Melbourne beach Fl. might give you an idea of how small the area was on google maps if they havent expanded parking.
@johnnybravo59622 жыл бұрын
