To me, song composition was at its zenith in the '30's. Even the material that didn't quite make it into the Great American Songbook far surpasses the undistinguished ephemera of later decades. ... The opener, She's Nobody's Fool, has to be my favorite a terrific side! Others high on the list include the Isham, Bestor and Dorsey Bros. tracks. Speaking of I've Had My Moments, that one has to be 1934, Bob; I know the song came out then and also that was the year that the brothers' orch. actually became a touring band, rather than existing merely in the studio. After all their hot sides in the early '30's with Bunny, they suddenly took on a sort of society band sound -- apart from a few jazz warhorse instrumentals.

You are right, it was 1934. I had one of those dyslexic moments🙃

It is great to listen to “Out Of Sight Out Of Mind” played by Eddie Duchin’s Orchestra, Bob! It was written for Ginger Rogers’ movie “In Person” but I had never heard any other recording of it. I think the composers were Gershwin’s pals Levant and Duke. For sure our friend Henri de Lagardere will tell us. By the contrary, I had listened quite often “I Had My Moments” by Duchin’s band with Lew Sherwood in the vocals and I find it very different sung by a woman. Don Bestor’ s “Strange Loneliness” is a strange beauty with that incredible start.

Henri must be busy as he hasn't commented on this yet. Glad you enjoyed the Duchin selection Alvaro.

Glad you enjoyed it Larry. The first recording took a bit of work to get it to sound decent. I really like Elmer's vocals, one of my favorite male vocalists.
