People(not me because I actually love this movie) get upset for two reasons:people got upset for the design because of how different it is from the Godzilla in nearly every other movie. The other is the animalistic nature to him. Mostly the fish thing. I counter the latter with this: he’s an animal. He’s literally a mutated iguana. You can see his parents in the opening and a lonely egg near the test site

It took more effort to make it look half decent and there were fewer studios with this capability. Now that you can basically do this at home, there are a lot of overworked and underpaid artists who don't have the time to put the level of quality into many of their productions.

People always have a problem with Zilla because he's not like the OG, but I say that's what makes him very special. He peeped the situation and was like "yeaahh, not falling for that one again." As amazing as OG Godzilla is, Zilla has a special place in my heart because of his intelligence and agility. He was most likely unconscious If he pretended, he might have risked the safety of his nest so if he wasn't knocked down, he would go back to his nest to defend it but it was too late.
