MMA is an extremely popular sport which combines any number of martial arts and styles, including Sambo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Karate, Wrestling, Kickboxing, Boxing, Muay Thai and many more. The focus of MMA is not to train one style, but to combine striking, grappling, wrestling and submissions in order to successfully defeat your opponent.
The sport has grown tremendously over the last decade and the largest MMA promotion by far is the UFC. The Las Vegas based UFC holds most of the elite fighters in the world and has been called home by such stars as Jon Jones, GSP, Ronda Rousey, Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Brock Lesnar, BJ Penn, Rampage Jackson, Shogun Rua, Anderson Silva, Jose Aldo, Urijah Faber, TJ Dillashaw, Rashad Evans, Chael Sonnen, Cain Velasquez, Junior Dos Santos, Mark Hunt, Alistair Overeem, Michael Bisping, Nick Diaz, Robbie Lawler, Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock and many more.
---
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu originated from Japan under Mitsuyo Maeda, but was made wildly popular and famous by the Gracie family. In the early 90's Royce Gracie brought BJJ into the mainstream, by winning the first ever UFC tournament. Since then, BJJ has become one of the most popular and practiced martial arts. BJJ is known for it's submission grappling based techniques the basic principal of position over submission.
It has also been successfully used by famous MMA and UFC fighters such as Demian Maia, Fabricio Werdum, Antonio Nogueira, Frank Mir, B.J. Penn, Rousimar Palhares, Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, Andre Galvao, Renzo Gracie, Rickson Gracie, Nick Diaz, Roger Gracie, and many more.

" against bigger opponents " is bigger opponent

Because it works on bigger opponents too. Being in a clinch hold with someone heavier/stronger than you is bad news, so knowing takedowns like this can win you the fight even if they are bigger.

@@CheeseCakeGamer099 being bigger and stronger doesn't prevent them from losing control of their weight so yeah what you said is correct. In fact I'd say if you are fighting a bigger opponent you'd be better off grappling with him since the disadvantage will be off set by the time you are both on the ground....

Erwin Anciano. I'm thinking clinch work with a stronger opponent is a bad idea from the start. Footwork - attacking hi then low - creating a scramble - reattacking the legs or the back. My sequence of choice from a jiu jitsu perspective.

these are good, practical, and unpredictable takedowns. also, you have the opportunity for a suplex once you are behind your opponent. with the right weight distribution and off-balancing, it's certainly possible to suplex a bigger opponent. the suplex is likely illegal in most competitions.

Guys here’s some simple stuff to learn if the guy is taller your best bet is to takedown from the legs if it’s same height you can try some trips, sweeps grabs and what not if same size and same height your best bet is to get around him try get the back or else shoot for singles I would say doubles but if they sprawl your double and are stronger and heavier it’s a risk I find double arm drag and take the back great or work a single and different variations from there when it comes to same size but big weight diff, hope it helps some of you I’m 5’5 by the way and what I’ve told you is the things I use in jiu jitsu and find effective for me against all those diff body types I’m a blue belt in jits but I’ve been doing wrestling years also

Great technique, it's a wrestling slide by, but the title is confusing since Jake is the bigger of the two. Also, once Jake gets past the arm and to the side, I'm not sure a lift is the best option for a smaller guy. Sure it can be done with proper technique, but there are better options imo.

Most need to understand these are setup techniques. Almost never will a 'move' just work as-is-- they are chained together, based on how your opponent reacts, to create a winning series. For example w this 'power shuck', your opponent will most likely feel this and react by pulling his l leg back, l hip down while trying to bring l arm back around for the underhook. This is a perfect setup for the right ankle pick.

Wing Chun is useless. Where are the Wing Chun Masters in mixed martial arts? They don't exist, because it doesn't work. Fake martial arts is a liability to the people learning it. Learn Wrestling Judo or Jiu-Jitsu if you want to learn takedowns and ground game. Any effective techniques in Wing Chun were stolen from real martial arts disciplines. Wing Chun is a disorganized mess of actual techniques and bogus ones and the people learning have no way of differentiating between which is real and which is fake. There's a great video on KZbin that shows a Wing Chun Master consistently getting his ass handed to him by a high school wrestler.

Nah Nick, you're Polish. Nothing wrong with that but you have to be racially British to be true Australian. You don't get to hijack the exploration and conquest done by the British Empire just because immigration by non British was permitted. That would be like any other nation coming into Poland on work visa etc and then claiming to be just as Polish as the bloodlines who forged that nation through centuries of struggle. If any race can call themselves aussies it essentially means nothing because culture is born of blood. The language, law and culture here is British. Better to identify with something deeper and more ancient anyway. Study your ancestors history and you'll prefer to identify with them over this young colony.

Lloyd, being aussie is nothing to brag about. A land that was founded by murderers, rapists, and thieves. Plus your nation is weak, America would conquer Britain and aussie at the same time. Deal With It.
