Ryron, Rener, this system has accelerated my jiu-jitsu journey in a way I did not think possible. Coming into each roll now with a plan and being able to think about what's happening (what stage I'm in vs. what stage the training partner is in) is amazing. I think that the biggest benefit to this that I've noticed so far is I can now go for all five 5 minute rounds without taking a break because I am no longer gassing myself out trying to escape out of inescapable scenarios and just being patient. Thank you guys so much for helping me.

I've got my blue belt from your uncle Relson back in the late 90s and I felt I hit a plateau and wasn't advancing no matter what techniques I learned or how hard I tried. I felt like all I was doing was using my athleticism, speed, strength and just forcing the positions and techniques by being sneaky. I never could be tight and controlled like the purple and brown belts I was sparing. They felt like anacondas just inching tighter and tighter till they suffocated me. I then for the next 20 or so years quit, threw away my gi and blue belt and now I've just started training again at 48 at a new school as a white belt and my first week I'm just focusing on defense escape control and submit that I'm dominating the 20 something 4 stripe white belts and mounting and submitting their 4 stripe blue belts and I'm pushing 50 yo. I wish I knew this 20 some years ago. This is the key to being a tight boa constrictor jujitsu player that controls it's prey while conserving crucial energy. Thank you for the elite secret

One thing i have really learned from this series as a white belt is to always try to stay as calm as possible, and even tho i don't have that many techniques yet it works really well to stay calm and "explode" at the right time, i feel like i have an advantage over people who try really hard to get a submission really fast and so on.., BJJ for life man, much love from Sweden!

I agree with all that "accept when they make a mistake" but usually the higher belts for me, brown and black don't make many mistakes, most often if i am lucky enough to get there side mount I am doing alot not to lose that position, and landing a submission is rare. I won in my mind if I was able to hold that poisition till the bell rings, but waiting till they make a mistake i like getting a free day of eating
@rdunnam1006 жыл бұрын
Great point. Since you said higher belt and pointed out brown and black, I will assume you are a purple belt. If you are landing in dominant positions on a brown or black belt as a purple you won the battle of getting there. You don't have to hold it until a bell - you won that battle (the sweep or escape that got you there). That is no small feat. And you are right, they have learned not to make mistakes along their journey - which is where baiting and forcing have their place - but it only works when you know what you want them to do, and how to provoke that reaction. And if after winning the battle to get to side mount you lose it while exploring/forcing; and then get tapped - you still won several battles and ended that roll by learning what did or did not work - another win.
@jnng74636 жыл бұрын
Correct purple for me 8 yr Gracie JJ student, and thanks for all the excellent advice. I am beginning to see the light with baiting and forcing ; usually the baiting for me is working on the blue and newer purples and forcing works mostly on the someone lighter and weaker than myself. As a white well not much to say except it was all great because everything was new, as a blue I got to learn about my strength and weakness' and mostly played a lot defense and the first 2 years of purple was a lot more defense, the third year was learning to connect the moves, and what works for me, I am in the my forth year which seems lately all I am doing is keeping the dominant position and seeking the sub only towards the end of the round. So I continue to seek what's next in this journey, while continuing to seek out my limitations and working with them. I'll try to bait the higher belts and use some force on them and see what reactions I get from them keeping in mind it's for my desired outcome. I have recently accepted I don't need to give it my all with the black belts because I'm trying to learn everything they know while not trying to be a bad partner.
@rdunnam1006 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you are in a great spot with a fantastic outlook. Just being present in the moment and learning from the black belt is its own lesson for the night - at least for me. Enjoy the journey my friend.
