35:06 the rock puncher was planned for subnautica 1 but was cut from the game! It even had a model and animations if i recall correctly, as i believe i remember seeing footage way back when of it in an early access build. But it got cut because they had plans for its punches to alter the terrain around it, which would fit the terraformer tool that also got scrapped. terraforming was just too buggy for the final cut, so sadly the rock puncher got cut as a whole the rock puncher is also based on a mantis shrimp! the mantis shrimp is known for its very powerful punches, that travel at 50 mph and has the force of a 22 caliber bullet!

A month or so ago I binge watched your Subnautica series for a second time and now I'm currently replaying the game because I honestly can't get enough of the Subnautica series, specially after the announcement of Subnautica 2. It's always so fun to just start a new save and explore 4546b like it's the first time you're doing so. And the main thing that keeps me going back to playing Subnautica is the soundtrack. The composers of both Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero did an amazing job with the soundtrack. Both games are by far my favourite survival games because of how awesome they are.

Oxygen plants give you 30 seconds of oxygen but take 40 seconds to recharge, so waiting at one is not viable but you can go between two plants alternating and stay underwater nearly indefinitely. If you can see two O2 plants, no need to worry. I do miss the Brain Coral from S1 though; I once planted a chain of outdoor grow beds with brain coral and Creepvine lights between each of my bases and the important sites, meaning I never had to surface for oxygen in S1.

04:28 _"Slow, stupid, and delicious"_ has to be the weirdest choice of words used to describe a lifeform I've ever seen. Though, if I were a chef and was good at cooking seafood, I'd be all over the fish on this planet. I bet one titan holefish could easily feed 100 people in one go, or (if preserved properly) last a single person 6 months without an issue.

It being colder above water than below makes sense. Above the water you've got wind chill and practically nothing to help generate any heat naturally, but under the water the coldest it can possibly get is 0C/32F since it's still liquid (of course this could vary depending on salt levels and whatever.) Plus there seems to be a good number of things under the water that generate heat on their own, probably factoring into why there's not that much ice. IDK, just spitballing on everything but the wind chill, wind chill alone definitely accounts for most of why it's so cold up there, that's for sure.
@Catheidan12 күн бұрын
were you as annoyed by the ice falling in water as I was?

No, the water can get below freezing because it's in motion, though it's rare. This is how slushies work

Volcanic gas outlets actually exist, they are called black smokers ,and looks like shimnys , in the environment around these structures, there are flora and fauna specially Adapted to live in the hot zone . The water and gases coming out is very hot, several hundred degres c. but the high water pressure suppresses steam bubbles forming.
