Consider building near thermal vents so you can make use of your thermal plants. Also be aware that you can transmit power over great distance with the use of pylon. The greater the distance the greater number of pylons are needed though

I picked a spot close to delta station near the thermal vent thats close, I had a thermal gen at my old base and it took quite a few extenders to get it that far
